According to a study, police abandoned an investigation every 13 seconds last year without finding a suspect.
Analysis of Home Office statistics shows that more than 2.3 million crime investigations carried out by police in England and Wales went unsolved last year. That’s more than 4 per minute and nearly 6,500 per day.
The number of criminal investigations resulting in no suspects increased by 30% from two years ago (nearly 550,000), rising to 44% in the year to December 2023.
Talk’s Ian Collins is joined by comedian and writer Steve N Allen to discuss.
