This one was so amazing. I felt such deep sympathy for the yellow eyed creature that was trying to help but was gnarled by the hotel to become a terrifying creature. The end was so melancholic. You’re an amazing narrator and audio designer Dark Somnium, I’ve been listening to you for years. I really appreciate your craft and what you do.

the problem with that is that the creature never tried anything before hand and when the main character saw it, it's eyes always held malevolence/evil, but that might just be the hotel
@metroplexprime9901
Жыл бұрын
I love the little pieces you can discern of this man's backstory. He was probably a missionary turned military man. How he ended up in the hotel is a mystery, but what we do know is that the letters from his "daughter" were merely fabrications, most likely on the part of the hotel. His wife, his children, everything planted into his brain by something... else. Not from here, in any sense of the idea. In the end, the food server tore up those fabricated letters; one final, last-ditch attempt to get the man to finally leave the hotel behind, to break him from the chains the hotel had so immaculately crafted.
@GorkeRavenheart
Жыл бұрын
Oh, that great way to interpret this one. Also, i don't know if i understand that correctly, but main character and yellow eyed creature, seems perceive wraited text (letters from "daughter" and final message) like gibberish and ramblings, probably influence of hotel to keep both characters there where it needs them. Amazing story

Well being a military man, probably just became homeless. Not many countries take good care of their veterans after they see war. And it messes them up sadly. Probably just found a place that he liked and stayed there only to be warped by the raven.

A lot of vets end up homeless so it's not surprising if he were a military man. But now I question this entire story since the guy is an unreliable narrator and is possibly with other squatters and there are killers in the group.

Feels like it is the same hotel/building. A single construction that through worlds with different apperances and caretakers. This one had the staircase and the other one had the "deep water" in the basement, in both cases being much bigger and connected to something much darker. Also it looks like the construction has a will, in any way cool stories.
@tanyanikolaevagizdova6571

They're almost opposites in a way. In that one, the narrator essentially chose to be the cursed building's caretaker, gave up his real memories to give life to a loved one. Here, the hotel chose the man and gave *him* false memories of a family and a dead wife. The caretaker of the Annedale is content, in a way, while here the old man is lulled into a false sense of contentment by the cursed building. It's interesting to be that there might be a reference to that story here - one of the photos is of a surprised man, with the strange apparition of a woman behind him, kind of like the Annedale caretaker and the rotting woman.
@Geek_Speak_Gaming

I was hoping you would narrate this one! I loved the Andal story (Think that is how it is spelled.) And the author always has good quality. Can't wait to listen to this.

The ending threw me for a loop. It makes you wonder who is the actual monster. But what does the care taker do? One feeds the hotel but the other tries to scare off other people? I would love another story just to drive a bit more lore and details of the hotel
