Wooo! We’re getting to the ARC portion of your reading journey! Loved the new Crosley! Such a perfect balance of grief and humor that was such a rich ride to run through. It was beautiful to hear about how you connected with Crosley and her boss through your own experience. It’s amazing when you find someone who gets your work flow and balance and leads you to being a better worker! ❤

Nathan, those work situations are SO rare! Have you ever had one…like really connected with someone that makes the workplace fun? Oh, I know…Net Galley! I’ve got just a couple of e-ARCs to go and I’m done for quite awhile 😲

What a neat opportunity to read those things in advance. I started The Goldfinch and the protagonist's father just showed up. What a tool...

Cass, you said it. I feel the same way about it. Oh Grief is for People….what a well done piece of writing I feel that was.

I listened to I Was Told There'd Be Cake by Sloane Crosley a few months ago and was sad that it really rubbed me the wrong way. I think part of it was her dry wit channeled into being a little condescending (about people mispronouncing her name, throwing water balloons at loud construction people outside of an apartment). I applauded the honesty, but honestly really didn't like her. I'd definitely be willing to try again because Grief Is For People sounds super interesting! Speaking of divorce type memoirs, I just finished You Could Make This Place Beautiful by Maggie Smith and it was great if you're looking for one more. Have a fabulous weekend Renee! 😊

Thanks for the recommendation, Patti. I've seen the Maggie Smith memoir in the library! Good point about Crosley's stuff. It's hit or miss depending on the tone. I think the book I read WAS that one. I felt it was uneven too and the essays about her neighbors or people being loud was...alright. Because the subject matter of this book is so serious and sad, although still Sloane being Sloane, it worked for me. Let me know how you get on with it if you try it. I hope you have a nice weekend, too!
