I don't really care about people's opinion about Hans, support him or don't, it's whatever to me. But Alireza playing him regardless shows that he is a good guy that doesn't care about drama etc, just cares about chess and fashion :)

Honestly, this is the best defeat Gukesh can afford to have in the candidates. Losing to Alireza instead of the top/mid table players, is less costly. Secondly, it is great to taste a defeat as well, as there could be the pressure always looming at the back of your head - playing candidates for the first time and unbeaten so far, is a huge pressure and this relieves some of it.

What class from this new generation of players. All players from India have won great respect already for their great chess and even better demeanor. Whereas Gukesh fell today, he showed his true classy colors. I’m overwhelmed by how he set up the board for all pieces before he left as he regained his composure. It was a great game and a great battle and Alireza played only to win risking it all under heavy scrutiny, in the end he played all the right moves and this must also be praised.
