6:30 Best scaffold I've seen is to place a levee or 1-high platform on the end of the overhang, and a staircase up. Then add a bridge off the levee/platform. This allows them to build up to the length of the bridge off the edge.

For an efficient bad water discharge build the sluice and waterproof channel 1 tie away and under the water source, then build the good water way sluice at the same level of the water source, directly diagonel to the previous one.

@@randomkiwigamer84 BTW the main point is "flushing" bad water 1 tile lower than the water source and build a water tower on top, starting with sluices at the same level. Like that you loose max 2 tiles of water and the upper column, separated by sluices and an impermeable floor, can be used indefinetly without accessing bad water.

The water is indeed 3D now, instead of the 2.5 "blanket' of water we had before. Pressure is Sorta a thing now, high water has weight, but sealing water sources doesn't create More pressure...

Was kinda hoping we could get pressure with the water change. Next test, that giant tank. Gravity has a way of making water move faster but I think the blocks have a “maximum” flow rate that they allow.

@@randomkiwigamer84 You can (pipes have no limit), but there's a limit of 2.2cms per-edge for falling water. Your pipe end only had a single edge, so only 2.2cms could escape. If you'd added more edges in front of the pipe, then mode water would have come out of the pipe!!!

Also steam gauges only show water flow for the block they're placed in. If you want to measure flow in a 4 wide channel, then you need 4 gauges, and then you add the flows shown on each.

"No idea why that's in range and that's not". The 1st block is on top of another block that hasn't been built yet, so it won't complain about range until it Can be built (once the block under it is built). You should check the block Under it. The 2nd block is on top of dirt, so can be built now, but is not in range.

Consider in the future, any pipes you decide to make, have them without their tops, so you can see if they over flow and require you to have a 2x1 or 3x1 pipe to adequately handle the flow the sources spit out.

I was hoping doing this would pressurise the water in the pipe but the next test is going to be that giant tank we are building. Going to be interesting to see how that works.

7:30 I would add another levee level and move the sluices up one more level as well. If you want to keep a level more behind it you want the sluices one above the level you want behind them. this way they dont let water out untill it gets to the equal level of themselves. Unless you have water block sources feed that area it wont fill up quicker than it exits thru the sluices. 10:05 since you restricted it down to one it is now letting less water volume out the speed may be up but the over all volume with the water physics is less so you are not getting as much water over all during the temperate season. It has not been folded via multiple surfaces it has been squeeze and so if you were to say remove the tops you would see a massive amount of water come out as it keeps the excess inside until a bad tide.
@randomkiwigamer84

By restricting it I should get the same amount but quicker flow, surely. When I turn on my hose tap (the inlets in this case) to full but turn my hose nozzle to single jet (the single outlet we made) I get the same amount of water just moving a lot faster. Not sure how I feel about those giants lakes now I have another idea to beautify the area for beavertopia.

I did think of that except, if I open my tap to full (the inlets) and have that water run through an ever decreasingly sized sealed pipe, the water comes out faster. Try it with a hose, turn the tap to full but turn the nozzle from spray to jet :) You have the same amount of water just moving much quicker. We do something similar at work using pumps etc

@@randomkiwigamer84 That is not how water works in Timberborn. Pressure doesn't build up. Without using exploits, each tile of straight canal without any change in height or direction can let through up to 6.6cms of water, but each tile of waterfall (like when changing heights) can only let through 2.2cms. Your contraption has all the water going through a single tile of waterfall, so it can only let through 2.2cms of water. That source you covered produces 10cms of water (the map you are playing has all water sources producing 2cms each), meaning you are blocking 7.8cms out of your available 10. If you want that source to flow through a drop without losing water you need five tiles of waterfall, which can be a 5-wide opening or having it end on a platform open to the sides so you get waterfalls on the sides too. When going horizontally, without any drops, you can fit it into a 2-wide canal with a strength of 5cms per tile (which is perfect for getting a lot of power from Folktails' waterwheels).

@@randomkiwigamer84 The total flow of water in gallon/minute or liter/minute will be lower comming out of a smaller hose than freely from the main pump. There are charts freely available online for flow/pressure with different size hose/pipe, they are not just made for fun. Have you seen the pumps used to supply water? Try holding back a 10m hose directly from the pump (same diameter as the pump outlet) and come tell me the pipes dont decrese flow...

@@JesseH_idk Not quite. There's "pressure" in that connecting two water reservoirs with an underwater pipe equalizes their levels, and that a reservoir filled with piped water from an enclosed water source can rise to the top of the world, but none of it seems to influence how fast water moves through tiles or waterfalls. It's still limited to 6.6cms per tile of the pipe's cross section and 2.2cms per waterfall.
