This is EXACTLY why, when it was time to retire, I bought a house in "troublesome" condition, to be able to drink coffee on the front porch, every morning, with the birds....who are, incidentally, going bananas over hearing this video!! Sitting, surrounded by 19 acres of old growth woods. THANK YOU for this! I will send it to my son, who grew up here, and is currently working in Texas....and missing Tennessee something ferocious!!

What a wonderful job you did pairing the birds pictures with their sounds! When I'm up home I've recorded the sounds, then when I get home to Fla. I'll play it and it's my way of dealing with some of that home sickness. I've often wondered which sounds were coming from which birds. There were a couple in there I didn't know about I've heard the thumber, but never had seen it. Always reminds me of a plane getting ready for take off! Thank you for sharing this with us, my friend. Blessings. 😊💕

So beautiful.......bird songs always make me think of the woods and forests. I love walking through the woods and hearing the sounds. You have some woodpeckers we don't have in Michigan. My favorite song is from the Cardinal.......it's so sharp and clear. The Robin is our state bird. They are still here and usually leave around the 15th of Aug. - sometimes earlier! Love the Blue bird but we don't see them often here. We have lots of turkey's and Morning Doves....they should have named them Mourning Doves....they sound so sad. Thanks for sharing.....

Donnie, there is a bird whose song/call I used to hear while camping near Cosby Creek in the 1990’s. It had a two-note very high call like two flute notes. No trilling or warbling. Just the two notes, usually in the morning. I haven’t been able to identify the bird. Do you have any idea what it might be?

Your Great Horned Owl seems to be mocking the hoot of a Barred Owl. Great Horned Owl’s advertise with more deep, soft hoots that have more of a stuttering rhythm. Barred Owls are the ones asking you who cooks for you, they’re also the ones that pair up and get to caterwauling or what some describe as laughing, sounds like monkeys in the trees.
