The Excelsior Brigade Fife and Drum Corps marches through the union camp at the 2006 Hamlin Beach State Park Civil War reenactment. Old 1812 is a standard tune played by many ancient fife and drum corps and reenactors alike. This video, in it's original format, is a good example of the style of marching used by most ancient corps, and is an easier style with longer step than modern drum corps use.
15 year update.
1) the audio is soooo loud and cuts off before the end of the tune
2) the street beat / cadence was written by the bass drummer in this video, Bob (Hugh) Frail. Bob was a great man, veteran and drummer for around 70 years (really, he played with Acton Ostling's Union Endicott Colonials as a youth), sadly passed away July 31, 2017.
3) Johnny, in the mullet, is director of field music at an historic fort producing amazing results
The band continues to make music, holding irregular rehearsals and attending events as possible, given the current climate of 2020/2021. We expect a return to a more normal calendar in 2022.
