Around Mario Maker's hype, auto levels became some of the most overused genres of the game, essencially these can be beaten easily by doing absolutely nothing.
This ROM hack of Sonic the Hedgehog 1 on the SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive was made to poke fun at them.
Another similar ROM hack exists that was made around the same time by MJ though I don't have the ROM ready on hand.
Due to the lack of other changes and there being no point to release it since it's just a visually pleasing experience, there isn't a release, but you can easily recreate this yourself if you're willing to follow the map (though i doubt this would work in Origins / Sonic 1 Forever unless collission were to be reworked entirely)
The process for developing this hack was the most interesting one, since the entire layout is stored and updated in RAM on a grid, you can essencially copy the layout at any given moment and feed it to an editor to make changes, so to speed up the process and to track where Sonic was headed to, I filled the entire canvas with rings, which is why they're scattered everywhere and you don't collect a single one.
I could essencially edit the layout to my hearts content without causing a desync on the character's movement.
