This is what I hate about modern "gamers": You judge games not based on whether they're fun or not, but based on how much "effort" you *percieve* it to have behind its making. That's like someone judging the quality of a program based on how many lines of code it took to write. I've seen people ACTUALLY considering 2D games to not be "real games" just because they think it takes less effort to make them. Because of people like you and your feedback, games are becoming WORSE.

After completing the game, I can say I absolutely loved it. It was just very fun. All the things I got to do and the type of world I was in just made me feel like sonic. In my eyes, that made whatever fault it had feel insignificant. Sonic is just a beast who is able to break physics completely in this game, and I think that is a good thing in this case. His homing attack goes against gravity now. I personally did enjoy the combat because of the variety of moves I could pull off against the mini-bosses. I didn't feel like it was tedious because, like botw, It was really up to me to decide how much of it did I want to do. I didn't need to fight all the bosses or clear all the stages if I didn't feel like it. Above all, sonic handles like a dream in the overworld. Others have complained that he handles poorly in the cyber stages, though that wasn't my personal impression of it. Overall, it made me feel like sonic, which is an amazing feet. I think this is a great new direction for sonic to go into. They just need to refine it more. Hopefully they dont abandon it, like they did with other styles in the past.

However, Sonic Mania drew me back in, and the IDW comics are absolutely fantastic. When I heard that Ian Flynn, one of the head writers of the IDW Sonic comics, was writing the story for Frontiers, that gave me hope for the game. I'm glad to hear generally positive reviews for the game, and I can't wait to get my hands on it. It's a pretty good time to be a Sonic fan right now, and I hope it stays that way from now on. But is it sonic team? They weren't involved with colors remake, and look at it. And on top of that, they asked for a delay for some reason with this game. It's Sega, they're the reason 06 failed, the reason the wii exclusive games were given priority over the aniversey game, and the reason ever game since 06 has had a massive list of problems. Because Sega doesn't care, they're not the one's being blamed. They've been treating us the same way ea does, but because they don't ask for money in form of micro transactions, nobody seems to notice or care. Just blame the group we know are constantly rushed and forced to work on multiple projects at once, it's fine, it's not like management could just hire more staff and better manage time to make good games like Nintendo does, you know, the people they lost to. Sonic team isn't the problem, and this game and colors ultimate are proof of such, Sega needs to shut the fuck up and do their hardest, otherwise Sega deserves to finally go out of business, sad as it is.

From everything I've seen, and I'm still waiting on the pre-order to arrive. But I feel this is a good step for the franchise, and it deserves further development! But 1st I would hope they could iron out some of the bugs from Frontiers. Like the pop-in, which I agree with your idea on how to address it, to better fit with the games Cyberspace theme. But if any future DLC becomes a thing, other than outfits. I think maybe they can add another island, perhaps a snowy one, given I've heard the number of different biomes are limited. At the end of the day, it's a Sonic game, it's gonna have a couple of issues. But what's here is impressive, surely better than how Forces turned out, and I'm really looking forward to it!

I gotta say this is a fair Review. I beat it at my own pace, 35 hours in and only missing 2 trophies I don't really care for. My short review is I give it a 8/10. Its a very very solid and proper game. Things I agree with >> It's a open world platformer but with Sonic which makes it soo much more fun! 👍🏾 I totally felt that too. >>it's FAST as hell. imo they did very well with capturing the speed aspect. >> and controls feels good too! even at super speeds I felt totally in control and I could do advanced skills at the will of my own ability to try it. > I actually enjoyed the combat system >> > I wouldn't quite say it's lacking polish, but some spots feel like some of the nuts are just hand tight. but as mentioned it's NOT enough to inconvenience you. and it is kind of easy >> I also agree its EASILY one of the *best* , deep, and more pleasant sonic games I've played or seen in a WHILE. And he didn't even mention word of how epic / and literally beautiful the music/score is. I honestly just think we're just spoiled these days. and IMO people/media just dragg out negative things now (probably for views). it's at very *minimum* a pretty good and enjoyable game.🤙🏾🤙🏾

I love watching videos like this after I've already bought and completed the game. I like being able to compare ans contrast other people's opinions and thoughts against my own experience with a game. Just finished this one a few moments ago (and enjoyed every bit of it). *Definitely worth* the 60 bucks I spent on it. $60/$60 game in my opinion. Game was absolutely amazing to me. They did such a good job with it. Makes me *super interested* in the next game, of which I'd love to see it be Sonic Adventure 3. With this formula they can do some really good stuff with the franchise. Really like and appreciate the story. Seems like the writers are setting up a solid foundation to link all previous games and formulate a solid story from here on out. Which I'm completely down for. As of now, this would be my second-favorite 3D Sonic game. 1) Sonic Adventure 2 2) Sonic Frontiers 3) Sonic Generations 4) Sonic Adventure

As someone who was pretty bad at video games as a kid this game felt pretty accessible to me in terms of controls - def agree with the critiques here though. I didn't play much sonic before because the gameplay used to feel very slippery(?) to me, but I think the action style gameplay in frontiers made it more manageable. Now that I'm more accustomed to it though I would definitely do a run in high speed style. The music SLAPS though omg.

My mistake was approaching it like a typical open world game but with Sonic's speed. The 'Breath of the Wild' part of my brain took over without me realising. Once I thought, "duh, it's a Sonic game, go fast" I realised that I could actually get some really good movement flow going and it became a lot more fun. Think of it as an open world game that you're _supposed_ to speedrun, with slower sections and collectables acting as breaks, and it becomes pretty damn good.
@astrotrain3332
Жыл бұрын
Controlling Sonic's movement was not janky in Sonic Adventure. The game itself was janky, getting stuck to walls, etc., yeah that's janky and buggy. But just running in open areas, simply running around, Sonic was at his best in 3D in Adventures. It was smooth and perfect.

About to be on the last island. I'd give the game an 8.5 out of 10. Really fun and I'm having a blast! A few issues. I wish the game would explicitly tell me things. Like the Wyvern fight. I had the HARDEST time with that fight until I accidentally discovered that parry can be HELD DOWN. That changed everything. Or the timed free-fall sections. Didn't know I could hold boost to fall faster. I did eventually see the parry thing on a loading screen but it was WAY after the fact. Open world is a lil empty and there isn't much incentive to collect every single memory medal on each island as getting a few hundred from fishing will get you through the entire game. But overall, I'm having a blast with this game and I hope there's a sequel because if they improve upon this we could eventually get a 3D game that rivals Mania!

Sonic Frontiers is the best Sonic game in the entire franchise! This game in it of itself is a masterpiece regardless of Sonic games! The open world is so fun to explore and you can run freely and platform at full speed and fight enemies, bosses and Titans, it's so fun! You can also combat and fight a lot of unique enemies and bosses, and unlock a lot of new combat moves and skills, at the skill tree! You can also upgrade Sonic, you can upgrade his strength, speed, ring capacity and defense! The story is the best out of the whole franchise, and the voice acting is very good, Roger Craig Smith did an amazing job as the voice of Sonic! The music in this game is incredible and it's the best music in the entire franchise! The Super Sonic fights against the Titans were amazing and some of the best fights in a video game! 10/10

My big drawback so far... it was a missed opportunity to flex the environment details using the controller. Similar to the Astro's Playroom with the vibrations differentiating between the various terrains (grass, metal, mud, and whatnot) and the weather (wind, rain, and so on). Then again it did just come out. Who know what they may fix and/or have planned for the future. I'd like to think it's an expansive game with new missions, story, and characters. Maybe an online aspect allowing fastest times to be posted. Multiplayer could be raid/dungeon format. I am enjoying it though. Learning to let go of forward, and just boost, while on the rails is a thing to learn otherwise changing rails or falling off is a high possibility.

This looks like they created a character with unique abilities, and then scrambled to put a story over the game and create a world. it's funny how even in a largely positive Sonic review there are always multiple things that are just kinda shitty and poorly designed. Like sega is a AAA developer, you'd think they'd put more effort into play testing or would hire some more competent game designers. The most recent ratchet had large open areas you could zoom around in and it worked pretty flawlessly. It's just kind of weird sega seems to always settle for at best being "mostly alright if you overlook some shitty janky parts" and at worst just actually awful.
