Leroy Vinegar and Lenny McBrowne!i I love the way the drums play for Barry Harris; snapping the high hat on the ands. Double-time feel but still open, uncluttered...Too bad for me I never heard this LP before!

With this song, Sonny Criss is more of a Benny Carter-Johnny Hodges influenced saxist rather than a Parker alumnus. Love his ad lib done within the chordal confines.

Sonny Criss is his own thing. And this album was about to propel him into sort of being hard-bop's answer to Grover Washington. Sadly it was so near the end of his life! There was not much Sonny Criss couldn't do. A lot of players from the hard-bop school couldn't have done what he did on this album.
