You should watch superhouse to see everything Sonoff

Use a sonoff with 433 MHZ option and it’s included to flash the red part of the building LED that indicates the 433MHz learning

For future viewers researching Sonoffs, Itead (the manufacturer) makes the schematics available on their website. Just Google Sonoff schematics.

This was shared some time ago on the espbasic forums it was cool to upload espbasic to these things and mess around with them a bit. www.esp8266.com/viewtopic.php?f=153&t=10634&start=4#p50894 Enjoy!

what? the LED is a 2 colors LED, with 3 pins all connected; please check the info before to spread wrong ones!

Giovanni Castania the red pin of the LED is not a GPIO Pin, it's not directly controlled by ESP. Please watch whole video, I mention that I tried every possible GPIO and couldn't find it.

well at 1:30 you said "the left pin is not connected to anything" and that's different from "not connected to any GPIO"!

Giovanni Castania thanks, I'll work on my wording. I appreciate your feedback as well. I had the channel since January. I'm learning as I go. Glad you stopped by to give me few tips. Thanks.

MadeEasy it is my understanding that the LED is dual color green and red. On basic Sonoff the red pin is not connected, but on the RF version of Sonoff, the red pin is associated with the RF.

Would it be possible to connect this adafruit momentary RF receiver --> www.mouser.co.uk/productdetail/adafruit/1096?qs=sGAEpiMZZMsMyYRRhGMFNjqDQYsYcDL2Fv3BKLtFzKE%3D to the inbuilt momentary switch solder points on the circuit board of the Sonoff th16. Would this power the RF receiver? I would like to add RF functionality without hacking the firmware. I also need the 16amp version, so the RF version Sonoff have isn't suitable. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!!!!

yes you should be able to use it. since its a similar to the one that comes with Sonoff RF

I might be mistaken, but the FTDI-Dongle you are using has a 3.3V Jumper for supplying 3.3v instead of 5v. So you don't need the workaround with the arduino mega. Atleast mine has
@MadeEasyChannel

yes it does have 3.3v but it does not supply enough current to power ESP. I tried, but it wouldnt power it. So I had to use Arduino Mega to power ESP

The Sonoffs that I have are the rf433 versions. These don't appear to have R21 populated on the circuit board and so the switch doesn't pull down GPIO0 to get into flash-mode. One side of R21 goes to R9 - it's the other side of R21 which needs to go to ground on power-up to get to flash-mode. I believe you can put a short between the solder pads on R21 to get the switch to pull GPIO0 low, but you may lose the rf433 functionality.

Nice try, but these secrets really aren't secrets and haven't been for quite a while. There are replacement firmwares for the devices that do an awful lot. Tasmota is one. Try and get an ftdi with 3.3/5V switch. They're pretty cheap and you won't need your arduino to program.
