Wow! I'm surprised how goo such a focal looks! And on a gimbal it makes the look even more unique! And the shot with the spider is super cool!

Extraordinary results. Creates a very unique and attractive look. Not to mention the fact that it could track that well through a mist filter which can cause issues.

Oh man, great video! Quite informative! But I honestly missed your shooting with BMPCC 4K with Zeiss. The Zeiss T * 35-70 mm f / 3.4 + DJ RS2 bundle was very interesting (what do you think, if you screw the Lidar there, should it work normally up to 4 meters?) , 105, 135, 70-210) with good aperture speed !! I hope you did not go over to the side of evil (autofocus) =))) I expect you to use the good old school manual optics that cool colors and atmosphere! Do not disappear and take care of yourself !!!

Nice video! 1) What are your absolute favorite lenses for video? I mean at least as sharp as Sony 135mm F1.8 GM. 2) What do you think about Sony 70-200 2.8 GM II for the video? Is it a better option than 135 gm? Thanks!

I have been reluctant to leave the comfort zone of the 35mm FF focal length but great videos like yours inspires me to "git gud" 👍 I'll try out the 85mm first since you can get the 135mm-ish look with crop mode.

Did you try to get some handheld footage (with active ibis) with the 135 ? If so, what was it like ? Too shaky and unusable or pretty good ?

That colors at 1:20...Hmmm, would you share that color grading settings? Now there is a same lens from Samyang with way better image quality, no CA, center to edges pin sharpness, but a little bit of hunting autofocus. Hard to deceide which one to buy, however I say Sony lens for Sony body, but I donno...

you had the PolarPro 2-5 stop ND filter on all the shots? What stop were you at on all of them?
@BenSake
3 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's correct. I would adjust the filter depending on what frame rate I was shooting. I also had to adjust the ISO but I tried to keep the shutter speed 2 x frame rate all the time.

What I am wondering is how stable of a footage you can get on average with that focal length when you are not using slow motion. Using 2x or 2.5x slow motion reduces visible shake quite a bit. After all, that's one of the reasons longer focal lengths are not so popular for these kinds of things, not because the results are bad. 85mm is already a challenge (from my experience, I use 85mm a ton but not 135mm). Your point on challenging a different than typical focal length is right though. I also believe it's very versatile (at least outside), you just need to get used to the focal length. But hey, using wide angles to get good results also needs getting used to. :-)
@BenSake

I think you can get quite good results with RS2. There are plenty 24 FPS examples in my video and I was wearing a heavy backpack all the time which caused extra movement of my upper body. But you must set your gimbal to a very slow pan follow rate, otherwise, the shots will be all over the place.
@andreas7278

@@BenSake That sounds promising, on their website they claim stable results up to 100mm. I guess your advice on using slow pan follow rate only is the key to get good results.
