What shutter do use for flying birds ? Mechanical or electronic? Thanks ❤
@sjm.photos

the a6700 generally mechanical because even though the read out speed on the a6700 is pretty good for a normal sensor you will probably get issues in silent mode.

Do you have experience of using the 100-400 GM with this camera bud? If so, whats your thoughts as a make shift 150-600 without the bulk of the 200-600 with a FF body

@@sjm.photos ye I used to own it but sold it for my 70-200 2.8 mkii and grabbed 2x tc for it. Thinking of selling that combo now and going back to the 100-400 with a 6700 as an 'out in the car' wildlife setup. Just concerned sony drop a mkii not long after i buy it lol

Enjoyed the video very much . Lovely images. Thank you . Am still deciding whether to upgrade to 6700 from 6600. As much as I love the RX10 IV, I doubt if it would have fared very well at all in that test. If Sony doesn’t bring out a Mark V next year it never will. Happy New Year to you and Tommy. Did you lock him in for that test ? 😂

Hi I actually "downgraded" from the A7IV to the A6700. The A6700 offered such reach and details that perched birds shots are so much sharper! Also, for perched birds, my A7iv usually likes to focus at the background while the A6700 has improved AF to find a small perched bird in front of a busy canopy. However, I got a issue, although the eye af works superbly to find the eye, I find that some of the shots are soft despite finding the eye and showing a green square. A burst of a few shots will have a few softer shots but generally, I can still find one that is tack sharp. I recall that the A7iv (which I already sold) is more "confident" once it gets the eye (although it seldom does). Do you face the same problem? If so any suggestions how to improve on this?

even though it has all the tech it still needs you sometime to choos the correct af area to help it. the a6700 is awesome but like all cameras we still have control of it so we need to imput sometimes. i set my lens side button to toggle between af areas so i can go from zone to small spot when shooting through small branches etc

@@sjm.photos I appreciate your answer and taking the time, thank you very much. I have the Sony 85mm and the Sony 18-135mm. I am thinking about them next to each other. I am very undecided. What do you think, the 200-600 or the 70-200 f2.8? Which one would you choose?

My last outing I had trouble with the focus. I used Auto Focus on tracking focus and I was trying to get a pic of a flying osprey. I would start to see the bird but really blurry and then it would go completely out of focus. I don't know why this was happening. Do you have any ideas? The sky was blue with no clouds so nothing else for the autofocus to grab on to.
