I have both. What do you want to know? Sony AF is better but it’s close. Easy of carry/shooting the Sony wins. EVF the Zf wins. 33 MP sensor from Sony > Nikon except in low light/high ISO situation…and it’s close. Colors are damn close. Nikon Deep Tone Monochrome is gorgeous. Lens options better with Sony.

@@AlexCruzHahaI kept the A7Cii. Note I’m a casual shooter who values smaller gear. A7Cii super easy to carry and shoot one-handed. Makes more room in a 6L bag for a lens/second body. Outside of the SE lenses ..Nikon lenses don’t ‘match’ the Zf. A7Cii/40 2.5 is very very good and capable setup. 35 1.4 on the way.

The comparison done as a shootout with a winner is just silly. You can't remove the lens to compare size. Camera is useless without it. The Sony body itself is impressively small. The Sony isn't weather sealed (a big deal for many) and costs about 40 percent more with the lens you're using (retail, not the crazy second hand fuji pricing).
@JosefFoti
Жыл бұрын
It was an interesting comparison but I think they serve different purposes. Now that Sony came with so many new cameras with pretty much the same technology, just in different bodies and for different target audience, I'd love to see a new RX1 with a tilt screen, I'm pretty confident that if Sony wanted, they could make a camera that would go against the X100V or Leica Q3, for example. For street and travel photography it would be perfect.

I sold my x100v great camera but aways left me feeling I wanted more from the images. Its a jpg shooting camera imo, and the raws i felt were never as good. Kind of mushy. I preferred my m6ii over the x100v with the pancake f2. But I get it fits lots of peoples needs. Sold mine for the same price I paid for it 12 months later, so for price it is way over hyped. I do like a7cr, seems to have a lot going for it. The screen and viewfinder is the same as the m6ii, and never had an issue with it in real world use.

For me, the AC7 series makes sense if you are using the lighter 1.8 Sony lenses or some of the lighter "contemporary" line Sigma primes. I don't think it's comfortable to have a smaller, lighter camera with a shallow grip if you are using a 50mm f/1.2 or 85 f/1.4 or, G*d forbid, a zoom. It just feels too front heavy and uncomfortable (especially if you have average to above average sized hands). It's only $300 cheaper than the a7 IV, which has the same sensor, a much better viewfinder, and better ergonomics.
@MagicWeddingPhotographer

I agree with you. Altough I like the concept of A7C R, that gives you both - small and compact and bigger with grip for GM lenses when you need it to be
@Daniel_Ilyich
Жыл бұрын
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer Oh, I didn't know that they improved the grip. Idk. For me, when I switch from my crop dslr to a Nikon D610 years ago, other than the obvious bump in image quality, the biggest different was how much larger the viewfinder was and how that made shooting so much more enjoyable. Even if you mostly use the LCD screen...try using it in bright sunlight? Anyhow, to each their own. There's always some compromise when you make any purchase.

Great video and no disrespect but we are comparing a $2300 full frame camera vs a $1400 apsc-camera. All the tech stuff aside $2300 for an EDC doesn’t make a lot of sense if you already have a smartphone in your pocket (my opinion). I have both the X100v and A7IV and as overhyped as the Fuji is, Sony has yet to hit that sweet spot of a true EDC with a decent price point like the X100V or Ricoh GRIII.
@MagicWeddingPhotographer
Жыл бұрын
I agree with everything you say. Sadly X100V is now selling at 2k-ish $ price, which is totally overpriced for what it has to offer. If there was a great pancake lens like 28/2.8 for sony, that would take A7CII EDC game to the next level. For now, I think RX1 was the only sweet spot for Sony, but again - not in that price range.

My wife wanted a camera so she got the XE-4 kit for $1000 with a 27m f2.8 pancake lens and I was so impressed with the quality and size, I did jump on the Fuji bandwagon with the x100v. The Sony RX1R is interesting but very pricey. I just honestly don’t know if Sony is even interested in the point shoot market that Fuji and Ricoh seem to be dominating.
