There are so many reviews about the a7c. A lot of hate out there. As someone who's trying to understand the product I find your video awesome because you actually used the product and show images and videos you took with it. Sounds obvious but most of the reviewers didn't show any content produced with that so it's hard understand the points they are making. Great content, thanks for the service sir.

I have an A7Rii and was therefore interested to find out more about the A7C. I can understand the idea behind the A7C - smaller and lighter was after all why I moved from a DSLR a few years ago. However, using Sony's better lenses e.g. your example of the 24-70 G Master for instance (or even my favourite 24-105) seems to me to minimise the effect of the weight savings in the body (and possibly not getting the best shooting experience or missing some useful features). Alternatively, unless the new 28-60 is of a very high quality, you're not realising the potential of the full frame sensor. As a result, you might as well just buy an A7iii. Am I missing something or am I just not the target market of the A7C?
@johnkoelsch5030

use the A7C as a prime lens platform -as a street camera with a 24, 28, or 35mm...save the bulky lenses for “tripod-cameras” such as the A7R4 when you’re shooting portraits and landscapes...the A7C is a camera that Cartier-Bresson would have used ...and maybe, attach a 35mm prime and that’s it...and that’s a page from the Leica “Bible”

Could the a7c be used as a pro camera? I shoot mostly street photography and travel (mostly still photography). I was already considering the a7iii or and a7riii for purchase next month, but then the a7c was announced and I’m curious if this would be the ideal camera for pro photography over those two. It seems like it gets 95% of the way and in a more compact body and cost less.
@parkcameras
4 жыл бұрын
This is a great question because to be honest, the actual output is very similar to that of the a7 III and since it's full frame, you're getting the same great quality. If you predominantly shoot street photography and travel, this might be a better option than the a7 III or a7R III just based on the size and how easy it is to bring this camera around with you. You can definitely get pro level photos and video using this camera, it would be the actual user experience using the camera that is quite different from the a7 III or a7R III (smaller viewfinder, no joystick etc.) but, that might actually suit the kind of photography you're doing :-)
@Matthew-kc4my
4 жыл бұрын
Park Cameras that’s kinda what I was thinking. If the output is very close (and identical to a7iii which many consider a pro camera) then this is just a nice compact version that you’re more likely to carry with you to get pro shots on trips and when doing street photography. Heck it could even do well in a studio. I think mainly you’re missing extra dials, which doesn’t bother me personally, and of course the larger view finder you mentioned. The one major advantage the a7riii seems to have, other than a few more MP, is the shutter life seems to be double they of the a7iii and a7c. I believe it’s around 400k vs 200k of the iii and C

This is a great question. Essentially, they are the same in most ways but differ in how they feel and the usability. For what you're looking at, I would imagine you'd be better off with the a7 III since it has more of a pro feeling body and viewfinder etc. The a7C is great for travel and everyday use while out and about but if you're going for pro photography and videography, the a7 III is great (it's what I use for a lot of stuff as well) :-)

For an entry to the FF world would you get the Alpha A7C or the Lumix S5? I can´t decide, cause the Sony's autofocus is on point but stabiliztion is not as good as Panasonic's. The same the other way around....
@professionalpotato4764

If you do only photos, either works fine. If you make even a bit of videos, the S5 is way ahead. But then again, considering the lenses available, I would still go Sony. Not buying any Panasonic ff until they give up on that DFD.

I have an APS-C Sony DSLT. Want to move to full-frame for 60% video and 40% photography. Are the new processor and autofocus improvement worth it to choose this camera over A7iii? I'd really like having 2 SD card slots, a joystick, and a big enough viewfinder.

Hi - hasn't it got updated colour like the A7S3 - it was supposed to be tweaked or has that not been included. Plus do you know if it has catalyst browse software compatibility for stabalisation. PS .. about the lack of joystick Dpreview pointed out that the new tracking software helps out - put the center box over what you want to track and press the AF button and its really good at tracking. Just different but actually very efficient.

Please provide your view for a comparison between A7c and S5. Which one will be value for money for hybrid shooter and run&gun content creator?
@parkcameras
4 жыл бұрын
That's a tricky one because both of these cameras are really great and similar in that they are both so small. The a7C has the better autofocus for sure as you'd expect from a Sony but otherwise, you've got 10-Bit video on the S5 so a bit more room for colour grading. The main difference for me though is how they feel, the a7C is definitely geared towards travelling and non pro use, definitely great for that kind of thing but, as a content creator, I probably preferred the way the S5 felt but that is just personal preference. Alternatively, I still love the a7 III, it's very similar to the a7C but with the more pro feel (viewfinder/buttons and joystick etc.) Hope that all helps :-)

You cannot turn efcs off but you can shoot in silent mode when you need high shutter speeds and do not want the bokeh affected. The only issue this presents is if you are shooting under certain artificial lights that flicker. I’ve not once found this an issue at all.

It's not the fastest aperture on the kit lens so not ideal for night but to be fair, the a7c can handle higher ISO values so you can definitely shoot some lower light with the kit lens. You'd be better off with a faster prime for night though :-)
