Why is the 900D getting so much attention? Seemed like no one cared about the 900C or any of the 8k TVs last year. Now everyone is talking about it now. 8k is completely unnecessary, streaming 8k would be a nightmare and an 8k disc would be enormous. An average movie is around 65 Gigs, and a longer film like Oppenheimer is around 120 Gigs. An 8k copy of these would be in the 250 Gig range, thats for ONE movie. Film is not 8k is closer to 4kish, so ALL existing movies shot in film or shot in 4K master digital will have to be up-converted. Unless you are about 12 inches away from a 4k 85"TV, you cant see the pixels, most people sit 8 feet plus away from their screens and wouldn't see the pixels on a 1080P TV at that distance. The 8K TV's used to get all the best of everything i.e. processor, brightness, build quality, etc. Now that Sony has released the Bravia 9 which gets brighter then these 8k TV's, the reason to buy an 8k no longer makes sense. A high PPI on a phone makes sense as our viewing distance is so close, usually around 12"'s away, with a high PPI its almost impossible to see the pixels at that distance. Not sure of a situation where 8k is important, other than working for NASA. What am I missing???

I currently own a LG 55EF9500 OLED 4k. Its been over 6 years and its been great for 2k, but it shows burn-in with the youtube UI and has always been horrible with HDR which looked insanely dark. Completely unwatchable. And to add to it, there's no way to turn it off with 4k content, so i couldn't watch any movie in 4k with this TV. Now this is by no means a judgement on other OLEDs or other brand OLEDs and i know OLED has brightened over the years so I'm sure its not nearly as bad as it used to be. Its just this exact brand/model. I'm 100 percent going to get the 9 after all the research into this sony tv. If OLED ever fixes the Burn-in issues, and it can some day compete in brightness, I'm sure ill go back. But I love very very bright and vivid colors and now with the 9 , you get almost OLED black levels. SOLD!!!!!! lol And thank you to both of you for your honesty and details! Great video!

I think it’s amazing that the 30k plus monitor for the last 7 years has been an LED Backlight based tech and not oled and it still dominates TVs when it’s next to it, oled or led based. Years ago the pro monitor was oled but now it’s LED based and has remained that way still even now moving to 4000 nits.
@Swecan76

I think the reasons for it is that they can achieve much higher brightness using LCD tech. Also they use Dual-layer so in effect it has the same black levels as an OLED because it's per pixel level dimming. But it does show that LCD technology clearly has room to improve in consumer space.

depends where you are at. Many companies can't afford a 30,000 mastering monitor. LG worked closely with Cal-man so you can get a "pro" quality tuning in much less time than it takes other brands and it's basically all automatic. So you see a mix of LG OLED and Sony reference monitors actually being used.
@lvproductionsinc9748

@@paulcox2447 that’s not the same. Watching on a consumer oled in a studio and comparing to or for reference after you shoot the content and mastered it to see how it looks isn’t the same as creating the content by reference and grading/ mastering it. They use lg to see how the product looks on the consumer level in a studio compared to the reference. Major Hollywood studios are not grading on consumer oled. I understand smaller studios and lower budgets may do this but major hollywood studios and large companies are not using lg oled.

Even without reviews, I am convinced about the Bravia 9. I watched a comparison video by a French channel that showcased scenes from Dune on the Bravia 9 versus the X95L. The difference was stark, not just a minor incremental change that requires scrutinizing details. The Bravia 9 was significantly brighter, with vastly improved contrast and fuller colors, akin to a QDOLED. It seemed to rival the X95L against a QDOLED. I understand the importance of not getting carried away by the hype, but the difference was indeed substantial. The comparison appeared to be conducted in a dark room, with no blooming, just crystal clear images, solid contrast, and a profound HDR impact. In a dark room, an OLED may offer "perfect contrast," but I don't watch TV in complete darkness. My viewing environment is a dimly lit room with some ambient light behind the TV. In such a setting, the contrast difference would likely be negligible, and without an OLED for direct comparison, the Bravia 9's contrast seems optimal. Furthermore, the price in Canada is quite attractive, even more so than in the US after conversion. I hope this pricing remains since we often end up paying more, but perhaps not this time.

No, the mini led will still have too many flaws. They will become very apparent once it's in your house and you really start scrutinizing it. Even though the light control is better, it's not going to be oled level. Get a G4.

I think Sony is going to release a QD Oled successor to A95L and call it Bravia X. It may not be this year, but I think they intentionally left that name alone for their true flagship and stopped at “Bravia 9” for the MiniLED. Companies love to use “X for 10” in their product/model names ever since Mac OS X.

Bravia9 definitely has my interest for sure! Am I giving up a little coming from a80l, maybe. What I've learned there are several factors to consider (size, use case, bright/dark room) I'm sure all of these TV's are great and most important they are not perfect. What is more important to me, the picture or features of the tv. It's give and take and at the end of the day am I happy with my purchase?

I’ve had two LG OLEDs since 2015 (current one is 2018 and is on 13-14 hours most days but is now suffering from burn in along the bottom of the screen where banners usually are) and am thinking of going back to LG miniLED precision dimming because I’ve seen some reviews that said even for fussy viewers (like me) the blacks are now SO much better than LCD (LED) TVs from 5+ years ago and LG LCD panels are IPS and not VA panels so viewing angles are pretty good too. The cost is not a factor for me (OLED is only £300-£400 more than top of the range LG miniLED TVs which is nothing really when cost is factored over 5 years usage); my feeling is that LCD panels are just more robust than OLED panels and now perform 99.9% as well as OLEDs.

Brian, I think what will be the determining factor for how good the Bravia 9 is to the LG G4 Oled is with the Starfield Demo (not the Xbox game Haha). Compare the Bravia 9 with the LG G4 and see how the Bravia 9 handles the Starfield demo. If it shows just as many stars as the Oled AND, if there is any blooming around the stars. If there is blooming, then Oled remains the King tech.

I have a 65" LG C2 and I love it... most of the time. Sometimes the "neon" colors can be fatiguing with certain content and sometimes things just don't look "right." Case in point, part 2 of Netflix's "Rebel Moon" looks better on my 75" Sony Z9D in the living room --- more like "film" (think theater), when viewed on the Z9D, than when viewed on the LG C2. Based on my Z9D experience, I would take the Bravia 9 over any OLED. It's basically Sony upping their game again like they did with the Z9D in 2016 but now in 2024.

It seems in a side by side comparison, most are picking the G4 as the tv with the best picture including myself. I’m not exactly sure which is better “performance” wise but my guess is the G4 is also the better gaming tv. The G4 also has 4 hdmi 2.1 ports vs the 2 from Sony. The G4 also has more realistic white color and better out of the box color accuracy. The colors are vivid without looking saturated. I believe the G4 has a higher peak brightness overall.

I spent 2 hours in BB comparing the LG G4, new Sony Bravia 9, and other LG OLED tvs.......and my conclusion - LG G4 is the winner. It doesn't matter what the specs all these KZitemrs are claiming, all I know is what I saw for 2 hours. The new LG A11 processor makes a big difference. That new processor on top of whatever algorithm LG implemented this year really boost the performance. The first thing you notice with the LG G4 is how much brighter, how much more depth there is, and also the clarity of the TV is on the G4. The depth and contrast on the G4 along with better tone mapping makes the G4 have a 3D like quality. I've been an avid TV enthusiast for a very long time, and this is the first time in the past 10 years where I am truly blown away with the picture of any TV. Sony IMHO, they are lazy, over priced, and they just wanna maximize their profits on their TVs. I would recommend to people who hasn't upgraded in the last 5 or 6 years, to buy the LG g4.....it's worth it for sure...... BUT If you're someone that has never owned an LG OLED TV before, then buy the LG G3......because you'll get a great deal on them and you'll absolutely blown away with the amazing picture. Just my 2 cents......thanks for your honesty.

I have a general question about newer people TVs.. I have a 2018 6 series 65" Samsung QLED. It's pretty basic, but it looks great. My friend has an LG 83" OLED, I want to say it's a C1. The color, contrast, brightness, clarity and sense of depth are all he dropping. But the motion is terrible. Even after going through the menus and turning off any and all extra processing we could find, it has soap opera out the ass in slower scenes, but then faster scenes where the frame rate should be nice, just show really conspicuous artifacts. My TV doesn't have any of those problems. He's streaming from an Xbox, which may have its own settings.. He's also got the contrast cranked up too high or something, as there was very noticeable black crush. He was saying that newer codecs used by the streaming services have higher native frame rates and it is start it is. My TV looks more natural, because it's too old to support the latest codecs. Is their truth to this? And/or are the newest TVs going to have more natural motion? I'm very sensitive to the overly smooth, un-natural soap opera effect. To the point that I straight up wouldn't trade sets with him. (Even if an 83" would fit in my room.)

I only watch movies and series at night, and im looking at either an X90L or a A80L in 75 or 85". Is Oled better for my situation? I love my plasma but its not bright. Would i love more light? Sony and Samsung are pushing Mini LED on us in the name of the profit that is it. They’re both over invested in it and make more profit on it. They’re throwing out unnecessary high NIT numbers to try to make it sound superior, it’s kind of a joke. OLED is the better tech always has been and has been improving every year the G Series is proof of that along with the A95L last year. Sony and Samsung simply chose not to push 3rd Gen QD to another level this year. Samsung went matte and Sony carried it over. It’s kind of a joke. I have an A80 and A95L too.
