Man I remember how proud I was to get my 27" wega Sony TV in 2000. I also bought a brand new Sega Dreamcast to go with it. The new flat-screen CRT tech was amazing and the surround sound was good too!

Ended up getting a brand new 32" wega CRT when they were still being sold at bestbuy to go along side my Gamecube & Wii paired with Component cables back in 2006. Such an amazing picture, but that really all has to do with the incredible blur-free motion clarity, including the zero latency when gaming. But we've all grown accustomed to that ever since the later 80's with ALL CRT's. If Samsung QD-OLED's were blur free in the motion department I don't think I'd ever care to go back to CRT for retro gaming. It takes QD-OLED/OLED black frame insertion to cut down 50% of the motion blur, and the end result is fantastic, but you lose quite a bit of brightness and input lag doubles or triples! :P It always cracks me up seeing these gamers striving to play 8-16 bit games in HD, it just destroys the look of these games and makes them razor sharp/crystal clear and ugly, with all of the square sharp artificial pixels. RF & Composite soften, round everything out so they look like moving cartoon characters. That's how they were designed to look in the first place.

I agree that you should not “chase a model number” but rather chase a great picture

I got the 20" version for $10 USD a few months back. It was like 80 miles round trip and 2 hours of my time. The owner said he used to play Ghost Recon professionally with it. Wish it were the 24" , that it had s video, audio out, and a flat top but I'm still incredibly happy with it.

I had this one or maybe the 20 inch version as a kid, and now I want it again to make a retro game corner in a room, for the nostalgia 😢

Great video. I have this exact same set. 24 inch Sony FS120 made in 2005. Picked it up from an old guy locally who only put 200 hours on it. So, same situation and basically brand new. Geometry is great and picture is super bright and colorful. However, I found it has some minor vertical convergence issues throughout the whole screen from the factory. I opened it up and messed with the H stat. and focus knobs but it’s definitely vertical convergence so I’ll need to adjust the convergence rings on the neck of the tube… By some stroke of luck I also came across a KV-24FV300 with less that 100 hours on it. still had the blue tape on the corners from the factory. The picture on that TV is Perfectly dialed in and the best I’ve seen on a consumer SD crt

im picking up a kv-24fs100 tomorrow for $180 lol, its in mint condition. On ebay these are all $200+, worse yet theres older shittier CRTs that go for even more cause "retro gaming TV" lmao. Its worth it if youre actually going to retro game on it, drop in the bucket really.
