Thank you so much! Received my parents XBR-55X850C as they got a new tv because of this exact issue, planning on fixing this myself and possibly replacing the power supply board as well. I appreciate the thorough walkthrough!

Not unless you damaged the panel connectors or the tabs on the side of the screen. May be disconnect the cables going to panel from tcon, 1 at a time and see if you get half a display.

I’ve been having that problem on and of for a few months now. I was always able to unplugged the TV and plug it back in after an hour and the Tv would work just fine. I tried to turn the brightness all the way down to see if the TV was overheating but it Dint make a difference. The TV stopped working completely last night and now I’m forced to either get another one or fix this one. It is strange that my TV is not only having the same problem but it’s also the same side that is broken. Would you be able to list the part# ? I can’t seem to find those anywhere. Thanks for the video it really helps a lot. Most people online keep saying that the problem is the power supply board.

I just picked up this same model on the side of the road. It fails to start up then gives a 7 blink error code. I read it is a thermal problem. Any tips on troubleshooting this one? Thanks!

Can I ask your advise how to handle a 75” 850c. Led screen.. do I uninstall with screen face down and then pick up back cover with everything else and flip it? Or with lcd screen on top and have 2 guys remove the led screen without bending or breaking it? Can I remove by myself? Your opinion as this is my first time dealing with this…. Thanks

Most likely screen up, then use suction cups/2 people to pull it out, making sure you tape the driver boards to the screen b4 U pull it out.

Hello, sir. I had a 6blinks and replaced led strap in success. However, suddenly it became no lighting. Two red cable on JW6220 have good voltage, but no lighting... When using led tester same as ur video, they are good lighting, all 8 ways...

But what does it mean when it cuts out, gives the 6 blinks (repeatedly) and then turns on again as if everything is normal? And the 6 blinks dont happen after a partial or whole-screen shutdown?

Have you ever seen one of these give a solid yellow indicator light? I have a XBR-75x850e that won’t turn on. When I plug it in the led light goes from white and slowly fades to yellow. I can’t find anything on that online and the service manual only talks about red Indicator flashes. The screen doesn’t turn on, no backlights, nothing. I have the 3.3v standby power, but nothing else seems to power on.

Why mark the return line? I don't understand that. 🤔 I repair TVs myself and in the time it takes to set up and test the those lines, which in my opinion is pointless (no offence) as only a direct test on the led strip itself will truly determine an LED failure, I be down to removing the screen or getting ready to remove the defusers to test my backlight strips to determine the fault - each to their own I suppose, but I just hate wasting my time. Six flash on a Sony - backlights 99 times out of a hundred the other will be a random fault that you'll never find - so good luck with that one... 😂 For anyone looking in, the LED tester BD is using is pretty crap - I'm sorry but it is and is usless at detecting anything other than a complete fail, you're better off with a variable bench power supply - 60vdc will do you fine. The reason for this is that unless you're replacing the full led array, there is a possibility you have other faulty LEDs which will illuminate on full power but are on their last legs, and so using the variable bench with your probes on the TPs of each strip, drop the voltage until the strip dims and look for any that go out before the rest on that strip - if they do, replace that strip, and that'll save you having to reopen the unit 4 weeks later - or worse, thinking your repair failed and chucking the whole unit. I give you this advice as a guy who has a small team testing what you all throw away - around 600 units a day and we repair and return to the market around 1000 units a month. If you'd all stop smashing your screens I'd save way more 😉

I need your help. My husband wants me to throw out my Sony Bravia, its the 32 inch size, not this one. But it has a GREAT picture. Thing is it won't stay on. If I leave it completely unplugged for a few days it stays on about 2-5 minutes. Then the stand by light is on and steady. So is it the power or main board? Yes, I know this may not be enough information, however, it seems to be pretty standard problem. So just maybe you have some idea and since it's been around a few years, even more so. This is a 2010 Sony model KDL32ex710.
@thedarkweeally

@@gemum4219 My instinct says power, but given a sony usually falls into an error code cycle, but your standby remains static, without testing, its really anyone's guess in all honesty, this is one I'd need to crack open and investigate. I'm based in Europe and it would seem you're stateside? So ShopJimmy would be the best bet for your powerboard part no 1-474-250-11. If the power board is cheap enough and Shopjimmy accepts returns then it's worth a punt to save you paying someone an investigation fee. But given it's age, maybe you should consider parting ways...and I'm not referring to your hubby...

What you're showing the public is a good way to stress the Power Supply as more LEDs short. Then they have to worry about replacing strips AND a Power Supply. Also this is actually a method of testing the backlight to see where the failed LEDs are located so you know which of the 3 strips to replace. It's NOT intended to be a permanent fix, but the average DIYer that sees this won't replace the strips. They'll stop as soon as the strips light up.
