Finding your videos very thorough and helpful in learning how to best use my ZV-1 and also educate myself on the basics of photography. Thanks!

I really enjoy your videos and you have helped me get more out of my camera, get yourself set up with eBay and Amazon affiliate links. You're never too small to make some money and help fund your hobby

Hey PL thanks so much for watching and the kind words as always:) I did take a look at links and such and thought (for Amazon at least) you needed to be in 1,000+ sub territory, I’ll have to have a proper second look and at eBay as you suggest!:) If you or anyone needs the standard link though it’s in the pinned comment:)

@@dbvares8745 I got my affilate link before 1k subs. Might not of got it first time though They help fund a channel, don't be scared to say you use them and it supports the videos. People will want to use it if they like your videos

Really helpful insights-thank you. I fully agree as well. I think provided the product is something I genuinely recommend then affiliate links are a win for everyone so they are definitely in the plan if I can (hopefully!) grow the channel. Let me see if there’s a way to implement earlier than I thought. Thanks as ever and have an awesome day:)

Great video. I'm looking to use macro lens for food photography where I don't need to be extremely close to the subject, but I'm aiming just to increase the depth of field and bokeh. Would it be a good idea to use a macro lens for this purpose(in increasing DOF bokeh)? Or are the macro lens truly useful only when you do extreme close-up shots?

Hi - thanks - question do you usually shoot 24fps in the UK - I was told to avoid it but I see more people from the UK shooting it.

Hey Mark, thanks for watching as ever. I usually shoot 24fps but also have an SD card set for 25. The main drivers of frame rate for me are light flicker (uk lighting is often 50hz so 25fps and 1/50 shutter helps cancel that out more easily, though it’s still manageable at 24) or client requests (if they request 25 of course I’ll do that:)). The advantage of 24 for me is around more slomo and device compatibility. The ZV1 can do continuous 120fps (so can slow to 20% for 24) but only 100 in PAL mode (so only 25% slowmo) and I shoot bits with my iPhone when convenient- that can do 24, 30 or 60 - the latter 2 can be slowed to 80% or 40% and still fit nicely on a 24fps timeline but you’d get to non round numbers and frame jumps trying to accommodate on a 25fps timeline. That was a long answer but that’s my usual logic-hope it helps and shout if you have any other Qs:)

DB. Sounds and looks like this is way better for macro shooting than the macro on the Ulanzi wide angle lens?

Hey Swink, I’d say the Ulanzi one is decent if it’s a free bonus you’re getting with the wide lens. I know you’ve seen that one but if others find this there’s more detail here on that Ulanzi: kzitem.info/news/bejne/pZ1nnn16gZx3lag The big advantage of a close up macro kit like this one is the multiple lenses you can use together. This can give much more magnification and therefore a bigger difference to the already decent macro of the ZV1 on its own. The downside is this kit is heavier than the Ulanzi (though still fine handheld and can be balanced on a gimbal with some effort) and, like all macro lenses, the more it magnifies the smaller your focal depth is so you need more precision to get sharp results. Plus there’s the little bit of vignetting I mentioned if you don’t use active steadyshot with this kit (when you combine all 4 lenses), that isn’t an issue with the Ulanzi. If I’m using 120fps (and therefore can’t use active steadyshot) I just zoom in slightly to eliminate the vignettes but it’s another minor thing to consider. So in summary: the Ulanzi is decent, it offers less magnification but is more straightforward to use. The close up macro kit can be more powerful and give more distinct and unique looking results thanks to greater potential magnification but requires a bit more user effort and tweaks to get the best from it. Sorry for the long response but hopefully that helps and let me know if you have any Qs, thanks as always for watching:) 👍

Can it be used with the ulanzi macro lens?

Hey Nx, I think you could theoretically screw the Ulanzi on top of some of the macro lenses, but not the largest one as the glass is too bowed out in shape. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching, consider subbing if you enjoyed and have a great day 👍
