There's some confusion below so here's what I think is happening here. The adult on the far side of the court is not a coach. He's a ref, just not wearing the stripes for some reason. There must have been a timekeeper issue on the previous play because the clock does not start on the inbounds. You can see the far side ref with his arm raised. He drops it just as the ball handler makes it to half court. That's the signal to start the clock. My guess is the clock ran too long after the last play so the ref delayed the restart. Then the score keeper gives the three pointer to the wrong team. You can see at 1 min that the score is changed to 35-33. The 3 pointer was in fact a game winning buzzer beater shot. I think the parents must be upset about the clock and whatever happened on the previous play because even 1 second difference changes that game. Not to justify it. They are acting like fools. But hopefully this helps decipher the video.
@iluvdissheet

Thanks for the clarification. Maybe if the ref would have just put the time back on the clock, it would have gone better. I've reffed many games like this where the scorekeeper is just some volunteer from one of the teams, and often doesn't do a very good job.

Parents of multiple kids tend to be more experienced in letting things go, but first timers sometimes need to know its ok to lose, ok to suck and ok to learn something from it. If you don't you will be forcibly removed...And if I am not mistake you will not be allowed to come back to any sporting event for the remainder of the school year. Being I was in the military during most of that time, I had no tolerance for any bad behavior towards any kids, refs, opposing coaches or me. I told the parents at the beginning of the season, I had no problem having a game stopped and them leave the premises if they got out of line. In all those years, I only had one problem and it was from an opposing kids father. The idiot actually followed me to the parking lot. Sad when these parents are trying to relive their Al Bundy high school days vicariously through their kids. My sons elementary school basketball team played in an inter-faith league and one particular game the parents of a Catholic Church team were so desperate to out cheer a bunch of elementary aged kids that they took to yelling and screaming during free throws and telling derogatory words towards our sons team on the floor. It was a sad day for the Catholic Church. Coach was thrown out for actually approaching my sons team on the floor and yelling at the bench for cheering Defense! BTW, they lost.

I witnessed this event, which might outdo the one you posted >>> two christian schools are playing a football game, see , and the home team is behind, and the cheerleaders are doing their best, but then Mrs Mommyboss leaves the bleachers, goes in front of the cheerleaders, tells the girls to watch her, and the Mommyboss starts doing cheers and screaming at the crowd to show enthusiasm. The cheerleaders were very embarassed by this, and Mommyboss was at least 36 years old and overweight ! hahahahhaaaaa and I'm rolling with laughter at the absurdity of it, but I did wish there had been some Security to remove her from the cheerleader zone and put her back in the bleachers, or off the property.

the score board says "32 "home" and "36 "away" so im guessing the kid that hit the 3 pointer we see is on the "away" team correct?so the away team won by 4 POINTS and would have won by 1 point without the last 3 pointer made correct?why argue about it?the away team was going to win by 1 or by 3 = it dont matte the away team had the lead even before the last shot.
@shirtken
5 жыл бұрын
mmeatheaddd no. The scorer gave points to the wrong team. The score before the shot was 32-33, home team down. Then the shot for the win to make it 35-33 for home team. At 1:02 you see the final score. I’m guessing some parents weren’t looking at the score and didn’t see the accidental adding of points to their team so we’re mad when they were taken away. I am being nice here. I realize in actuality the parents were being asses.
@iamshafe
5 жыл бұрын
I think that’s why the parents were mad. The team with the ball was already winning, and the boy didn’t need to shoot at all. Instead of shooting, he should have held the ball to run out the clock. ( for 10 year olds, I don’t agree with this, but would be considered poor sportsmanship later in their years )

I love the it’s a youth sport argument. People have no idea the hard work and dedication some kids and parents put into this. This guy took it too far yes, but the time and effort that goes in sometimes is great. Winning is a huge boost to kids confidence and sense of worth. It’s heart breaking to see them lose. I coach football, 2nd grade. Just lost today in the final round of playoffs. Every boy crying, and some coaches choked up. A lot goes into this, big part of these kids lives.

Please two seconds to go down the whole court with these kids & score 5 points to win. They lost by 4 points look at the score dim wit. Besides in games like this league the clock never stops unless there is a time out including when they take the ball out it is still running. It is not a high level game. They have a schedule to keep. This is verified by the fact two girls teams took the court soon as this game ended.
