@nooshiewest8738

@@vulgarresponse7080 No. Capuchin monkeys are also named after the order of monks because their brown fur and white heads looked similar to the robes of Capuchin monks! I only know all this because I used to sing in an acapella group called "Cappuccino" and I looked up the derivation of the name.
@sophiemarcaurele

It actually all starts with the brown hooded robes themselves, called cappuccio. These Franciscan friars are named after their robes, the coffee after its color, and the monkeys... because the fur on their heads looks like the traditional half shaved hairdo sported by the friars. 🤔🐵 ☕

My grandfather and Uncle both fought in WW2, first in N.Africa, then Italy. My Uncle, who trained at Sandhurst as an officer was awarded the DSO & and MBE for his heroic efforts. My grandfather’s regiment joined up with the famous 8th Army. During the battle of Monte Cassino, on the Winter line, troops froze to death in their long efforts to capture it. It’s hard to believe now seeing this, that all that took place. My granddad always wanted to return to Italy and he did go back under very different circumstances on holiday many years later, not least because he was a Catholic & carried with him a Rosary all through the war and of course went to see the Pope in Rome when it was liberated. One day I hope to visit there. 🙏🏻

If you go up Mount Vesuvius and offered a stick on the way up, then try and get rid on the way down or you have to pay for it. There is a great pizzeria in the square in Sorrento and go into old town for ice cream and coffee where the locals go as it tends to be a bit cheaper. Omg, the limoncello drink from Sorrento is just the best! I have never tasted any since tha had the same flavour. If you find it too much to drink on it's own then add to iced lemonade like you would a white wine spritzer and drink as a refreshing summer drink. I went on the boat trip to Capri and even though it's in a lot of old style films etc, I found it very overwhelming and overrated. It's very very expensive and people will really rip you off for a drink. If you did ever go, go stocked up with your own drinks or water etc as even a bottle of water is very pricey. One more thing, Italians love to eat at least 8 to 10 courses of food. If you do go to Naples, don't stop as the locals told us as crime is very high against foreigners unless your with a proper tour guide.

I was just looking at coffee history stuff, what a coincidence! There is a wiki page on Cappuccino too, here’s just a snippet Cappuccino Cappuccino comes from Latin caputium, later borrowed in German/Austrian and modified into Kapuziner. It is the diminutive form of cappuccio in Italian, meaning 'hood' or something that covers the head, thus cappuccino literally means 'small capuchin'. The coffee beverage has its name not from the hood but from the color of the hooded robes worn by friars and nuns of the Capuchin order.[This color is quite distinctive, and capuchin was a common description of the color of red-brown in 17th-century Europe. The Capuchin friars chose the particular design of their orders' robes both in color and shape of the hood back in the 16th century, inspired by Francis of Assisi's preserved 13th-century vestments. The long and pointed hood was characteristic and soon gave the brothers the nickname "capuchins" (hood-wearing). It was, however, the choice of red-brown as the order's vestment color that, as early as the 17th century, saw "capuchin" used also as a term for a specific color. While Francis of Assisi used uncolored and unbleached wool for his robes, the Capuchins colored their vestments to differ from Augustinians, Benedictines, Franciscans, and other orders. I love Italy, my favourite country ever, amazing history.

"Fare la bella figura" = to make a beautiful figure, meaning a good impression. "La passeggiata", not passeggiato, as it's a feminine word from the verb "passeggiare", to walk. 🤔 Gotta use that Rosetta Stone sponsorship, mate! 🙃🙃🍋 the " big lemons" are called cedri; very fragrant, and mostly used for marmalades and candied desserts. If you like prosecco (careful, it's often not vegan depending on where it was produced!) you will LOVE a refreshing bellini: two parts prosecco, one part chilled peach purée. Yummmm! 🍾 🍑 I love Sorrento and the entire coast indeed, even if it's very touristy. ❤ Why don't you guys hop to Albania and Croatia since you have to leave the Schengen? Both countries are spectacular, safe, have amazing food, natural wonders and culture... and it's camper friendly! The vanlifers Curt and Snow are in the area, it would be nice to make a collab, they're so lovely as well! 🤔 ❤🚗 🚐
