Additionally, Dahmer wasn’t that charismatic and MrGirl, like him or not, is kind of charismatic. I think MrGirl is more like Ed Kemper - likes the sound of his own voice, can’t stop talking, doesn’t seem to treat women very well, attracted to 15 yr olds…etc. etc. Someone should really do a personality type test where serial killers represent different personalities. LIke the Winnie the Pooh personality test. MrGirl is obviously an Ed Kemper.

Esp as a straight male, how could I possibly trust them about how responsible they are with birth control, or anything else. If I feel I have to have visual confirmation of the test I’d say that’s a red flag. The only thing I’d say he should’ve given ground on is the 2 dates thing, and he did say that with less conviction. He probably agrees that showing the test would build trust, but he’s saying he doesn’t want to have sex if the trust isn’t there beforehand. As in it would literally turn him off. It’s not manipulative to say you don’t want to have sex when you no longer want to have sex, and his reason for not wanting to have sex seems reasonable enough to me, all he is saying is he wants a certain level of trust (which he agrees that level is higher than most people, but just because it’s a higher bar doesn’t make it unreasonable or a red flag). And since his end goal isn’t to have sex with the woman that bar is completely fine. Now I’ll agree that it’s difficult for him to square that with the second date take, but his statement on trust and sex isn’t contradictory or a red flag in and of itself, it’s only when it’s taken in conjunction with his other take that he has to make some unreasonable defenses.

Secondly, you'd be surprised to know how many people walk around not even knowing they're carrying an STD/I. People can be carriers with no symptoms, or can have the early stages of an STD that haven't physically manifested yet. This is particularly a problem with HPV, as most men are carriers who are completely unaffected by the disease, whereas it causes infertility and cancer in women. Most of the time by the time a woman is experiencing the symptoms of HPV the damage has been done. Why does he assume that there should be any sort of timeline for a women to say “yes”….. forget women, just anyone can say no for however long they want, that’s not a power play, that is them going at their own pace, and if that pace isn’t up to the other persons standards, they don’t have to stick around…. @@danielandree3947 It's especially weird considering that, throughout most of human history, people _didn't_ have sex until they were married (or, if they did, they got married after). Because children were always a possibility, and women had no reliable birth control, that's just how we structured societies. _His_ way of doing things is actually incredibly new. Even in the 90's, and even for people over 30, it wasn't typical to sleep with someone you dated on a second date. (Frankly, there weren't that many people still dating over 30.) How is he so sure _his_ is the correct and "normal" way? (It's the same reason I find Destiny's take about having no respect for relationships where the couple doesn't live together before getting married strange. Again, in the course of human history, living together prior to marriage just didn't happen. Even as recently as 10 or 15 years ago, it wasn't the norm -- and still isn't in many parts of the country and world. That's an awful lot of history to stare in the face of and say, "I respect none of your marriages." 😄)

He's a mess, he agreed that by his definition literally everything is a test and that's perfectly normal and she shouldn't be upset at that characterisation because it's just accurate and not a morally loaded term. And then immediately goes into how it is totally unreasonable for her to test men and makes him really mad to be tested. Like his backstory point of 'I only want to have sex with people who trust _me_ enough to not need paperwork to doublecheck' would be a fair boundary if he was open about it. But to only make up the boundary _after_ somone reasonably asks him when they already agreed to fgo to the clinic together? And then to say stardust is objectively unreasonable, so unreasonable to make him mad about it, when all she asks for was a bit more time to trust the person? Completely contradictory positions.
@SaVanityVan
Жыл бұрын
Its such a normal, mild boundary too. I've never slept with someone earlier than a couple months into the relationship. I know that's longer than most people wait, but not by some massive margin. And I've never had a guy freak out over it, at most I had a college boyfriend pester me a bit until I was ready because he was so eager, but that was just asking, no anger or anything. Not everyone sleeps with a new person after only physically meeting them a few times. I've known plenty of men and women who won't sleep with someone until at least a month in. Sex complicates relationships and accelerates feelings (for most people at least), I think it's pretty reasonable to want to have a decent idea of who a person is and if you really want to be with them before committing to that. It has nothing to do with 'testing' them to see if they'll wait for you and stay. It simply is what it is, and if you aren't down with it then obviously we aren't a match, no different than any other boundary in a relationship. He seems like he needs all of the control in a relationship, and really really resents women. He's enraged when he feels like a woman is putting him down or controlling him in any way, but he's mentally warped so even the slightest exertion of control by a woman, even if it's just over herself, is an affront to him. He's scary. He makes me uncomfortable just watching him. I really worry for any woman who knows him in real life.

Stardust was very honest about who she is and what boundaries she needs in a romantic relationship in order to feel safe. Mr.Girl is mad at women like Stardust, so he accused her of engaging in a Power Play, which is, very scummy. A power play is when someone employs an social tactic in an intentional way in order to manipulate someone in order to attain more power. Mr.Girl essentially blamed Stardust of using her trauma to create unnecessary boundaries in order to put her partners in a lower position than her. That's a pretty mean accusation, definitely not an accusation any friend would make of another. Stardust, reasonably, felt very hurt and didn't talk to Mr.Girl. Why? Maybe because she's conflict avoidant, or maybe because Max is really bad at handling any other person's emotions. He's always accusing everyone he talks to of being bad faith if they disagree with him. If they're talking about their feelings, he will use Psych terms to destroy their credibility and try to convince them and the audience that they are incapable of understanding their own emotions. He's always trying to argue people out of their feelings, he goes on 5minute long rants and interjects every 15 seconds whenever someone else is talking. He's not someone anyone would want to or should ever talk to about their emotions. And despite everything he said to her, which was very mean spirited, he never even apologized. He's actually a terrible person.

@@Cumdown good point. So the OR is interesting. The definition is essentially saying it's between two things. "Exhibition" or "an attempt to Increase one's power." So you're either actively trying to grab power, or your flexing your power on other people. I usually don't like to use dictionary definitions, but in this case I think the dictionary definition matches the colloquial one pretty well. In either case, whether your exhibiting your power or trying to gain more, they are pretty deliberate actions. I don't think Star was trying to Flex her power or grab more when stating her boundaries and needs. There's no behavior to "invoke" that'd make that relationship sexual, a completely open boundary that doesn't control people. Yet he'd claim it was possibly a subconscious power play, something that'd actively use withholding sex to invoke a specific response. Something unnecessary - unlike Stardust's situation - which he'd prove a part of his definition through his hypotheticals. Stardust pointed this out, Mr. Girl denied it, never conceding. He misused is the word as he defines it, slapped it onto Stardust's situation disingenuously, and claims to be an empathetic person... that he was ditched... that Stardust couldn't handle the conversation. @@Expertspecter I think your scenario highlights exactly why you have to look at situations like this on a case by case basis. Like, if a girl stops and actually says, “No. You have to wait.” Then that could be seen as a manipulative move or a “power play” or whatever, because her expressed reason for stopping seems to be solely to mess with the guys head because the only thing she gains from that is more control over the guy. Now, this scenario could be flipped on its head if she says something like, “Hey, I know I started this and I feel really bad but at this point Im starting to feel insecure and uncomfortable because, I haven’t been able to get you off yet and I really just need to stop. “ If something like that is said, then I believe the guy have every right to feel a bit frustrated, but not angry. I think it would be obvious that for one reason or another the girl has become uncomfortable or self conscious and it’s obvious that she isn’t enjoying what’s happening and at that point she’s so uncomfortable that she actually did gather the courage to stop. It might not be exactly what the wants but if he cares for her feelings at all he should accept that.

I empathize with Stardust. I have a similar sexual boundary, not because of trauma, but because I'm looking for a potentially life long partner. I can't have sex a week or 2 after meeting someone, bc it feels way too intimate. Plus, sex clouds my judgement and makes me feel physically bonded to someone, so I don't feel comfortable doing it before having time to get to know someone properly. Men describe post nut clarity after sex, but for me it feels more like post nut cloudiness. In my opinion, it comes across as very entitled to demand access to someone's body after 2 dates. I imagine that a person who requires that kind of instant gratification would not be able to emulate the kind of longevity and collaberative qualities that I look for in a partner. Well over half of my peer group are single mothers with multiple kids from different dads. The dads have no intention of helping raise the kids except for maybe 2 weekends out of the month. They complain about child support, even though daycare alone costs $300 per kid per week. That prospect is terrifying to me. I'd rather take my time to carefully select a partner/ future father of my children than end up destitute as a working class single mother paying $900 a week just for daycare.

Stardust is talking about needing time; its about her, for her. Max insists on calling it a "test. A test is something you would direct 'towards someone else' - him. Its cant be about her and her own needs, just for her own sake; it has to be a "test", directed at him, for him.

Not wanting to have sex with someone until they trust you to a certain level isn't a red flag. Being offended by boundaries and things that can grow trust is a red flag a major one. What MR. Girl described could be someone being honest and not wanting to have sex because of the ask and someone who has an STD and still wants to have sex and is trying to manipulate the girl into that. And there is no way for the girl to figure out which is the case and the proof that would need to be provided is literally at your fingertips. Further proof Mr. Girl is probably one of the most toxic people when it comes to relationships.

This is the problem with Max, he thinks he can divine people so well, but just from his conversations that is not true. He makes assumptions a lot, puts everyone in a box, and assumes he knows everything he can, with a few interactions. Two dates will never be enough to fully trust someone even if you think you can. People can be very trustworthy one day, and all it takes is one minor even to flip that. Being cautious isn't bad, even if it is someone you are married to. Even if you are married I would say get std tests regularly just for your own safety, and it can ad peace of mind to the relationship. If someone is sketched out by that, they are probably not worth trusting.
@SaVanityVan
2 жыл бұрын
I was with you up until periodic STD tests while married. I'd be super sussed out if my monogamous spouse asked me to take an STD test, much less on a regular basis. A longterm relationship REQUIRES a certain amount of trust, and trusting that your partner isn't sleeping with other people when they give you no reason to think they are is bare minimum. At a certain point suspicion/lack of trust becomes disrespect. If my partner behaved in a way that made me suspicious enough to want them to get regularly tested, I'd just leave them. And by the same token, if my partner thought so little of me that they needed constant medical assurance that I wasn't regularly raw fucking other people, I'd leave them.
@Mrrogersbestneighbo

Just the fact that he thinks he can divine people so well demonstrates that he clearly can't. The idea that you can know a person from a few interactions with them is delusional unless you're some kind of robot from the future that understands the human mind perfectly without flaws. If Max truly believes he's so perfect at divining the actions, emotions, feelings, etc.. of other people, he should go play poker and become a world champion or become a psychologist and become world famous for having by far the highest success rate with patients. Obviously, he's not going to do either of those things. That said, I do like Max, he has an interesting perspective on things and can provide some thought-provoking dialogue. But his belief in his own ability to know what people think and why they think the way they do is just cringey. It's the sort of perspective I would expect of an anime character, not a person who has the desire to seriously talk about issues. The fact is, people are unpredictable and that's something I think anyone with a lot of experience in personal relationships with people, like Destiny, would completely understand. You can't know how a person will act in X situation until you've entirely lived out their life. We can't live out the entire lives of other people, therefore we can't be sure.
@jeromyzx153

@@SaVanityVan Say that to the many people who get STD's from their married partner. STD's can be transmitted in other ways than just sex. Contaminated food, borrowing an unclean towel, nail clippers, hair brushes, there are a lot of things that you might not think about that can spread it. I got chlamydia when I didn't have a sexual partner for 4 months. Also humans fuck up it just happens sometimes, even people who are madly in love and super trust worthy make mistakes. Their are degrees of trust, but their is also just being safe. Your safety supersedes any level of trust you have with someone. Their is a reason most sexual assault is done by family, or close friends. I will never tell someone to be so trusting because it is dumb. The irony of MrGirl saying, "The way I'm using the word [test] means that you have pass/fail conditions for somebody else's behavior, and if they don't respond to what you're doing in the way that you want, then they fail, and then you're done with them." That is precisely what MrGirl has done to Stardust. She didn't respond in the way he wanted, so he was done with her. In ways, it seems like MrGirl thinks that if he just refuses to do the things most women want -- like some level of emotional caretaking -- and calls it a "boundary," that means he never has to feel bad for becoming abusive again, because nothing he ever does now, short of hitting someone, is his responsibility.

I think the big issue isn't even that this whole "Oh we went and got tested, I got the test results, and I threw them away, and said 'you know, I don't think we shouldn't have sex until you trust me" kinda fucks with you mentally in a lot of stuff in a relationship, and kinda breaks down their will to respond to other potential red flags if you break them on this. Like cheating, "Do you really think I'm the type of person who'd go behind your back? If you're going to accuse me of cheating for being out late and not coming home, I just don't think we have enough trust to be in a relationship anymore." Or abuse, "I'm just looking out for your wellbeing. Do you think I'm really such an awful person that I'm not letting you go out with your friends just to hurt and control you?" Or being a League player. That one is self explanatory. If they can beat you on this one, then you can - intentionally or not - be trained to no longer resist other things, "I don't think he's being fair to me... But we have this important trust dynamic." I think the issue is that MrGirl kinda has some narcissistic tendencies where he feels like these types of things shouldn't be a red flag because he personally doesn't view himself as a bad/manipulative person. Which is kind of weird considering how down right conspiratorial he can be about women. lol If he thinks that the girl demanding to see the test before she's willing to have sex is a 'test' or a 'hoop' to jump through, then equally her having to have _faith_, not trust, to be able to sleep with him without that evidence is also a hoop and equally a "test" The difference is the outcome of not showing your results, and a girl trusting you, and you lying could be you getting HIV. Like his whole version of trust is fucked. lol When I say "I trust the science" it's because I trust the evidence and how it's interpreted and double checked + peer reviewed. Or if I say I trust my boyfriend to not abuse me, it's because we've been together for 2 years, and consent/informed consent, or care about emotional states or boundaries is something we talk about and clarify all the fucking time. You know what this whole "If we're going to have sex, you need to have total faith I will not lie to you or deceive you" it sounds like cult shit. 'If you question the word of Xanthan Gum the Mighty, written in our holy book only our highest priest can view, then you aren't a true believer and must be cast out!' is the schizo version of 'If you question if I'd lie to you about the STD results, that only I have seen and am willing to see, then you don't have adequate trust in me to be with me' The huge issue here is the fact that MrGirl -has- the information, he has the time availability and income to get tested, and he's using information control effectively to demand obedience or faith. I don't think he's being willfully manipulative in this manner, but a lot of people who are hyper manipulative or abusive aren't like hyper planning out this shit, it's just trained behavior by doing what works.
@brushwagg7735

This might get long, but here is my understanding of this and why I've come to the conclusion that Mr.Girl is wrong. So Mr.Girl made Stardust mad in a talk they had and upon voicing her frustration over it, she went off the grid on him for 3 months. Within those 3 months, Mr.Girl had crap circumstance and his channel take-down and everything. He never felt the need to try to fix or hash things out on why Stardust was mad at him, but expected her to show sympathy/empathy all of a sudden because 'woe, is me' and screw you, love me. She didn't reciprocate because their previous issue wasn't settled so instead of the 100% friendship support he was somehow expecting, she gave him the 35% friend support (with the tweet and live stream shout-out) they were actually at. Now he's mad because she was treating him like he treated her in the 3 months before his crap storm. So now they can't come to an agreement because Stardust is mad about the first situation and Mr.Girl is mad about the 2nd situation and unless one stops being mad over their separate issues and wholeheartedly focus on 1 at a time, nothing will be resolved. So Stardust is like, "Screw you from before, so I'm not going to go over my mishap and empathize or w.e as you want for the latter." and Mr.Girl is like, "Screw you for the latter, so I'm not going to put my anger and pettiness aside to admit mishap correctly for the former." Even looking at that, Stardust is still in the green as she acted within the given friend range for the time as Mr.Girl never did and left the first pothole in the street which insured the broken rim for the second pothole. Even when he tries to shallow concede his wrong in the first, he doesn't justify her actions for the latter, being how he treated her formerly. In conclusion, Mr.Girl doesn't know how to be friends or know what a friend is as you MUST give him your empathetic soul. He's too high maintenance and will wear anyone down if not held at an arms length proportional to the person's tolerance like Destiny has. Mr.Girl expects the world's tears only to not give at the same rate or quality that he expects to be given. His so called empathy is disregarding the person's feelings and telling them what he thinks they're feeling. He is essentially talking to himself with the other person being just topic filler for him to bulldoze through and overwrite with his own thoughts, but god forbid if you do it to him. Just watch one of his videos, he'll tell the other person that they're mad or w.e even after they profusely deny and say what they actually feel and think, and then when they do it to him, he shuts them down and says his absolutely with no room to debate. Dude can't even play the game he made.

Based. I don't get it either. Destiny's loyalty to friends cannot be questioned at this point.

@@CurdBros true, if destiny can be loyal towards Mr. Girl he has to have rock solid convictions lmao

Because it's good content. I hate the guy too, but I click on the videos when it seems juicy. It's the same reason we like insane people in debates too.

@@zacharychristy8928 I guess that's fair, honestly the newer stuff he's been apart of had been good content, mainly because it seems like destiny finally took the kid gloves off and is much more short with him. I couldn't even watch the videos he was in originally because destiny would let him go off mostly undisputed and uninterrupted.

@@zacharychristy8928 I avoid mr.girl videos like the plague. I only clicked this one out of boredom and hope the bridge would actually be burned forever.
