Bread, Boston, Bob Seger, Doobie Brothers, The Cars, Kansas.... the bands are out there to listen to without hitting a flop along the line. Exceedingly rare these days, but the 70s seems just full of them. Nobody really tried to pigeon hole the bands or themselves into "genres" (that came later and applied retroactively). All we cared about was "Is their music good?". It was an amazing time to be alive. Everywhere you turned it was just one fantastic band after another. No autotune, no dubs or "sampling", just hit after hit after hit by extremely talented artists
@davescurry69

@TonyM And that's not even mentioning the bands from the other side of the Atlantic. The UK groups from the 1960's and '70's are as a collective, even better (IMHO).

BIZ! I'm so glad you got to this and I can tell, based on this, there are these other two that are kind of in this direction that I almost always play back-to-back whenever I play this song: Hideaway (Wish I Could), and, Feelin' Blue. I like the slower ones sometimes because it really gives you a chance to hear his voice unwind and fill up the space with so much soul and emotion and grit. And the lyrics are always so powerful. Hideaway is such a powerful song, and I desperately want to give you a hint about the topic of it but then again I don't want to spoil it in any way because when it dawns on you what he's talking about, it's a powerful moment. And then that last one is almost like old slow Motown or something, I don't know, it just has so much soul to it and it's really catchy and the singing is spectacular. And I love what you said about you haven't heard anything you don't really like buy them. I can honestly say that there are only three bands from this era that I literally like every single song on every single album. I mean every single song, each in its own way. That is a very difficult thing to say about very many bands from me. The other two are The Beatles and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Literally every single song on every single album. I can't even say that about other great bands that I love, like Led Zeppelin, because there are a few on those that I just don't like that much for some reason although I don't think they are bad. But with these three bands, I literally like a lot every single song they ever did. For another rocker, you've got to check out It Came Out of the sky. It bangs so hard and it's got a great punchline And it just feels good. It is about a farmer named Jody and one night a meteor comes burning out of the sky and lands in one of his pastures. It makes him fall out of his tractor. He runs all the way to town screaming it came out of the sky. He was shaking and fearing for his life. And then the story unfolds from there. 😂

I enjoyed your reaction to my favorite group playing this moving song. Please listen and react to "Wrote A Song For Everyone" by Creedence Clearwater Revival from the Green River album. It has a similar, almost mournful quality to it. The very first time that I heard "Long As I Can See The Light" was back in 1970 during a Houston Lighthouse For The Blind commercial, around 10:30 pm., right after the local news. Paired with that Lighthouse logo, it made an indelible impression on my teenage mind. I had to save up my lunch money in order to afford the $3.95 Cosmos Factory album--because the single version of it was sold out at the record store. It was in the summer of 1970 that I first got to see Creedence in concert.

The great soulful voice of Mr. John Fogerty. This was a double "A" hit single, with the fun tune "Lookin' Out My Back Door" on the flip side. So many great Creedence tunes to recommend. My fave is the follow-up to "Bad Moon Rising", titled "Lodi." I think you'd really dig it. The singer finds himself in the town of Lodi, a town he doesn't want any part of. The chorus goes "Oh Lord, I'm stuck in Lodi, again." Other great cuts -"Green River", (similar to Hollies Long Cool Woman), "Sweet Hitchhiker", "Down on the Corner", "Hey Tonight."
