The purpose of acoustic insulation is to limit the propagation of sounds from one environment to another. To give a practical example: in the room next to mine I have a person who is listening to music and in this room, I want nothing to be heard of what he is listening to.
We have to intervene on all surfaces (walls, floor, and ceiling) to ensure that sounds are not transmitted from one room to another, and it is pure building work.
Usually, plasterboard counter walls and false ceilings are made with insulating material inside, and where possible the floor is decoupled too. Obviously, if there are doors they must have a good degree of noise reduction.
The purpose of acoustic correction is instead to create an acoustically comfortable environment and through the use of sound-absorbing material, the sounds are absorbed.
To give a practical example: if I want to create a room for listening to music or watching movies, the environment can't be with a lot of reverb or more commonly called rumble. The risk is hearing a degraded and unintelligible sound due to the countless reflections in the walls of the room.
Applying sound-absorbing material to the walls and ceiling helps reduce environmental noise, improves speech intelligibility, reduces stress, and offers a pleasant stay in the room.
