Wonderful how much story they could pack into 20 some odd minutes!

My Mom loved her Singer Sewing Machines, from the time she was given one for her birthday turning 12 till decades later. She had five Singer Sewing Machines.

For ones not inclined towards sewing, there were seamstresses. To have a personal seamstress was special. Rare today but my mother helped support the family for decades by sewing in the home. She literally wore out a couple of Singer sewing machines. Not easy when they were built so well - made to last.

I love these old playhouse series but man I wish somebody would shove the curtains open and shine the light in my face while I'm asleep no matter what time it is. You'd be going out the window along with the curtains and the sewing machine.

Thanks for posting these. This singer playhouse really is a snapshot of a past lifestyle, 1954 where women actually made the clothes they wore. And the sewing machine was this pretty hi-tech tool for the time. The whole corporation was big with a consumer and manufacturer market...and they had that beautiful building down on water st. In Manhattan until "69....and this cool program.

From the boxy-body and trim to the logo, it looks like a 1952 Plymouth, but I couldn't find one with that particular grill. There was also the problem that Plymouths of that year had split-windshields, except that I happened upon a photo of one with a single windshield. But this is my best guess.

I've seen some wonderful episodes in this series, but this one is shockingly bad, bordering on silly. The husband's acting is unconvincing and Barbara Billingsley is flat. Even Merle Oberon couldn't lift this production.
