Sound shapes is a platformer built around electronic music for the PS3 and Vita and was released in 2012 by Queasy Games and Sony Computer Entertainment. The player controls a little ball character that jumps and latches onto objects to help it traverse rooms that are divided into step sequencers. In each room, collectibles add to the music in the game, and the music (by I am Robot and Proud, Jonathan Mak, Jim Guthrie, Deadmau5, and Beck) is impressive. The initial package is fun but brief, yet an included level editor mode and online, community created levels add a bit of value.
Control is precise, the gameplay and scenario are simple, and graphical style is clean and unique for each composer. It is available for download from the PSN for $14.99 as of the recording of this review.
I should also note that game footage is recorded in standard definition, so it looks much sharper in HD.
