What is the name of the best quality soundproof curtains you could recommend? I have very sensitive acute sharp hearing so it gets very frustrating. Ear plugs are not comfortable while sleeping all night. I looked on Amazon and it is overwhelming. I have 2 casement windows in bedroom. I hear everything outside. Planes, trains, construction, cars, trucks, motorcycles revving up, squirrels, crows hacking away, sprinklers going off, babies crying, lawn mowers, lawn blowers, etc. Also, if I put 2 layers of plexiglass from the inside, can I still open window? Would it be easy to remove? I appreciate your comments and recommendations. I feel as though at times I wish I could live on a private island and get away from all this noise.

I have airborne and significant vibrational noise coming from the street. The interior sheet rock is damaged and will be removed. I realize there are many ways to address my street noise problem but can't afford to do everything (rock wool insulation, decoupling clips, 5/8 " sheetrock, MLV, , green glue sealant/caulking, double pane plexiglass window inserts). I am also limited by the thickness of the wall due to the presence of baseboard copper pipe heating system ( and the cost and complication to disconnect this system). What would be the priority of materials in terms of their effectiveness you would advise for airborne and vibration traffic noise. I would really appreciate your opinion on this matter. Finding good information regarding this issue has been challenging and insufficient. I hope you are available to comment soon. Many thanks!! EJ

If you live in a big city, the police will usually ignore sound disturbance calls. If you get a court order against the most offending neighbor, that would be best. You should mention the fire safety when people block the window with another layer of any material, a violation of local and state building codes. Imagine a fire at 3 am and the kids cannot leave the house because the doors are on fire and the windows are sealed. Another consideration is the fact that plexiglass gets scratched so easily, making the view unpleasable over time. I like your videos. Just remember the fire hazards.
