Welcome to episode #44 of Sounds Sick, the format, where we´re gonna present a bunch of cool and/or unusual stuff from our studio!
The videos show the sound that really let´s the amp/gear shine , in our opinion. Wether it´s a jangly clean tone or fuzzy rock sound.
BASS EDITION:
This time we´re featuring a vintage carlsbro bass head, simply called BASS!
This solid state amp was probably made in the seventies by Carlsbro in England. It features a three band EQ, a deep switch, and some peak filter options which you can also use simultaneously if you press them together. Oh, and it puts out a pretty damn loud 200 Watts @ 4 Ohms.
This amp actually sounds really great!
Very nice british voicing, with a lot of grit.
It does get a little sludgy if you push the volume, but that isn´t necessarily a bad thing! ;)
You have a ton of options for weird bass sounds if you use the filters, but I actually liked it the most without filters and without the deep switch.
Signal Chain:
Hohner Professional PJ Bass
Carslbro Bass
Peavey 215
Mic´d with a Shure sm57 up close, and a Brauner Phanthera for ambience/room.
No eq, compression or other effects where used!
