Sour Cherry Dumplings Recipe: ( 6 Servings )
The dumplings: In a bowl add
- 1 cup of flour
- 1-1/2 tsp. baking powder
- dash of salt
- 1/4 cup of white sugar
- 2 Tbs. of soft butter
- mix well with a fork
- add 1/2 tsp. of vanilla to 1/3 cup of milk then add that to the mixture in the bowl
- mix well and set aside
The Sour Cherry Sauce:
- In a non stick pot on low heat add
- 1 Tbs. of butter
- 1/2 cup of white sugar
- dash of salt
- stir in 1-1/2 cups of boiling water
- 1-1/2 cups of pitted sour cherries
- 1/2 cup of cherry juice
- simmer on low - medium heat for 5 minutes
- turn heat up and bring to a light boil
- using 2 spoons drop dumpling mixture into the hot sauce 1 spoonful at a time to make the dumplings
- cover
- turn heat down to low
- simmer for 20 minutes
- serve in bowls while still warm
- leftovers are delicious cold as well
