-Fun facts: The Eland is actually NOT the same as the French AML-90. It has had almost all of the internals replaced and improved, and a commanders cupola changed. They look the same externally (except for that cupola), but they're very different internally. For example, the Mk 7 was longer than the AML-90, and it had a different engine. It also had a different transmission. Except, of course, if you're Gaijin... which is why it has the same engine and internals in-game. Oh well, at least they moved the headlights :/ Also, the Ratel 90 uses the exact same turret as the Eland... which tells you just how massive that thing is...

When you pronounce Eland, pronounce it as if the d was a t. So Elant. You have the sound of the "a" correct. Use the same pronounciation of that "a" in R"a"tel. Where it's more like Raatel. :-)

South African vehicles are primarily designed for what I would call "Safari Warfare". They aren't that impressive on a European battlefield but are perfectly designed to operate in sub-Saharan Africa. South Africa is known for having some of the harshest terrain in the world. Most South African vehicles are wheeled. This is for several reasons. The desert-like sand in South Africa kept causing tracked vehicles to break down. Wheels are faster and better at all-terrain, something needed in the south african bush. Wheeled vehicles had more range and better fuel efficiency. Making them less reliant on infrastructure, something hard to come by in the middle of the desert. Anti-tank mines were also very commonly used by Angola during the South African Border War. The undercarriage of SA armoured vehicles are designed to be mine proof. Wheels were also better against mines than tracks as tracks were harder to repair than wheels and the loss of a track would cripple a tracked vehicle, whereas SA vehicles are designed to be still drivable, even if they've lost one or 2 wheels. All SA armoured vehicles also feature wedge shaped armour at the front. This armour is only the latest in bushwacking technology. The SA bush can be pretty dense. The wedge allows the vehicle to break through dense vegetation and even small trees with ease. Like all SA armoured vehicles, the Ratel 90 was developed in the 80s, during the SA Boarder war. The IFV served as the backbone of the South African Defence Force. Praised for its balance of speed, all-terrain capability and anti-tank capability. The Rooikat was an armoured reconnaissance vehicle with anti-tank capabilities. During the SA Boarder war, raides against Angolan forces were common. These raiding forces were backed up by MBTs which were tracked(I already said why that was a problem) and significantly slowed down the raiding force. The Rooikat solved the problem. Placing a tank's turret on a lighter, faster wheeled vehicle The Olifant is the heaviest vehicle in the South African military and the only tracked vehicle in it's arsenal. During the South African Border War, South Africa purchased several Centurion MBTs from the UK to use in Angola. However, due to the fact that the Centurion wasn't suited for the South African battlespace and the fact that UN imposed sanctions against South Africa limited the availability of spare parts, the Centurions would receive major modifications. Replacing almost every single component of the tank until the only components of the Centurion that remained were the hull and track skirts. It was so different that the Tank had to be renamed, becoming the Olifant Mk 1A. Later modifications would produce the Mk 1B and Mk 2. Even though these 70 year old tanks are long overdue for a replacement, SA never bothered. South African has no plans to invade another country any time in the near future so these tanks are mainly for defence. A role which they are still capable of doing because despite their age, their still the most powerful tank on the African continent. The TTD(Tank Technology Demonstrator) was developed in the 1990s as a replacement to the Olifant Mk 2. It was based on the Leppard 2. However, due to lack of funds only a prototype was ever built

What made these great SADF vehicles so awesome in combat was their very dedicated and excellently trained crewmen. The pre-1994 SADF was hands down one of the absolute best armies in the world.

I would disagree with notion that the up engined centurions are bad at 8.3, they are not, the strv104 is pretty nice. But yes the olifant adds nothing to the Brits since they already have 2 chieftains at 8.3

I have more success in the Olifant mk1a due to the laser rangefinder and the APFSDS you snipe and support your team to mid range all 8.3 Centurions are good only brainelts like Sako here who thinks that the 8.3 Centurions tank are bad because "META" god hate that word

Im really surprised you didnt cover another really important reason the Rooikat MTTD is superior to the 105, the crew layout is a lot like the American Striker, the turret is pretty much empty meaning hulldown with hullbreak out of the game it can be a real pain to deal with if enemies dont take chemical rounds, darts often dont ammo rack the back of the turret either in my experience.

I like the Ratel 90, its larger hull has many advantages over the french smol boi, like not getting one shot if they hit your vacuum holes, which are pretty huge, and the inability to trigger fuzes, aswell as the ability to shoot from more areas like the castle fortification you were shooting from. Its also a much more stable platform.

Here are some reason I think the SARC's are awesome: SARC MkVI is one of only a few 2.3 BR vehicles that can still scout. Almost all Scouting Light Tanks are 2.7 these days SARC MkVI (6pdr), in addition to having an amazing cannon, has an American Browning M2 .50 on a 360 degree pintle mount making it an effective SPAA MkVI has 24 and 6pdr has 26 smoke grenades fired in twos to support your team Both have reverse gear which is normally a huge downside for Great Britian The tall structure allows you to sometimes shoot at other light vehicles from behind cover with the pintle machine gun without retalation Sweet South African voice-acting
