Kiten is a picturesque seaside town located in the southern part of the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria, 55 km from the city of Burgas and 5 km from the resorts of Primorsko and Lozenets. Kiten was founded in 1932 by settlers from Odrin Thrace, but its historical roots go back to ancient times, to the 6th century BC, when the territory of Kiten was inhabited by the Thracians. Numerous objects were found in the southern bay - tools made of stone and bone, ceramic vessels. Today, these objects are kept in the museum of the town of Sozopol.
Kiten is known for its structure and relief, which contributes to the development of the town. This is one of the resorts that has a valuable resource, namely the ecological environment. Thanks to this condition, Kiten can boast crystal clear water, lush vegetation and a variety of forest animals. The nature in this part of the Black Sea coast is exceptionally beautiful, here you can see the sea, mountains and forest in one place. This is what makes a huge contribution to the magical atmosphere of Kiten. The Devil's Bay in the north embraces the Atliman beach, fenced by high rocky shores and sand dunes. In the vicinity of Kiten are the remains of the ancient fortress of Urdoviza. Kiten has two beaches - the northern - Atliman and the southern - Karaagach. The beaches here are clean, sandy, the northern beach is dotted with small dunes. There are five campsites in the vicinity of the city.
The embankments of the town are constantly exposed to the destructive effects of sea waves. Even powerful stone defensive structures do not withstand the advance of the sea on the eastern coast and threaten the destruction of numerous hotels and villas built on the high bank. The updated eastern embankment with a magnificent pedestrian path will protect the city from the advance of sea waves.
