Hi do you have a video of how you made the lava rock structure? Your garden is amazing. I’m inspired and would love to create that in my garden. I live in northern Cali so I’m hoping the plants I get do ok.

Wow how amazingly beautiful. Well done. Very inspiring. I started last year with my back yard. So far king palm, 4 foxtail palms, pygmy date palm, majesty palm, plumeria, hydrangea, coleus (love those), calla lillys, rose, geraniums, jasmine growing all on fence, sago palm, and some plant I forget name. Similar to spider plant and hostas. Love the beauty.

Oh I love your garden. I'm in the middle of changing out my back yard to a tropical style. I live on the coast of NSW, Australia so I should be able to achieve the look I'm going for. Too much heat is the only killer.

BEAUTIFUL GARDEN...your plant and tree selection is great: Papaya plants, Plumeria, Ti Plants, etc, etc. That Plumeria tree's blooms are gorgeous!! I noticed you planted a couple of King Palms...a nice selection for a tropical look...and pretty fast growing too! Have you considered planting a Beccariophoenix Alfredii palm in your garden? They look almost identical to coconut palms.

Hey Brian! I love your tropical/volcanic themed garden!! What a backyard paradise! If I had a rodent problem like that, I'd look into some kind of high voltage solution. Fry the little bastards!! Bugs, spiders, snakes don't bother me, but I've always been absolutely freaked out by rats. Ever since I was in the Navy and we got attacked by these GIANT Bull rats in Naples, Italy.

That is an awesome exotic garden., I agree on that juniper, I would have my chainsaw in that thing so fast. We have an exotic garden in the Southern Gulf Islands off of the west coast of Canada and no junipers to be found. Keep up the good work

You can! Work first on adding some shade as most tropicals are shade/partial shade lovers. I'm zone 10a

Isn't it too dry for tropical plants? I thought there was water restrictions and stuff over there. Is it much maintenance?
@NextLevelGardening

That's a good question. I'm actually closer to the ocean where it is not quite as dry as some of other parts of Southern California. But I also have a lot of the plants that like more moisture in containers which are sunk in into the ground. Everything is mulched heavily and actually takes less water than my lawn.

Nice garden..but lose the idea of replacing that fantastic large Hollywood Juniper with the Rubber Tree. The Juniper as you are learning is a great place to mount Bromeliads and Tillandsias and Orchids..Cattleyas, Dendrobiums,many more. Then you can also mount the big Platycerium ferns. All for a tree that itself only needs the water that runs off the mounts to thrive.

I will consider that. Those are all great points. However it isnt tropical looking and it is really messy.

@@NextLevelGardening It might need cleaning up. Power washed of dead needles and such..but I tell you the Ficus is going to ruin that yard with its root system in no time. In huge yards they are great... One more thing...so many tropical mountain cloud forest plants grow on tree's that have temperate backgrounds..Oaks ,Pines,Magnolia's and Ash..all have broms and orchids festooning them in Mexico for example. That one you have is old and you should really think about killing it ..to only find that it was more authentic than you ever thought. If it's the twisted Torulosa ? Boom,you have one exotic right there.
