I think it’s fair to say he was very good for us. We were really having bad times with Allardyce and McClaren and Fabio and losing to Iceland. He stabilised the team, got the fans interested again, got a toxic media back onside and took us high up the rankings and deep into tournaments. He made England extremely strong in 2021. He did make England stronger than Spain in the final only to get taken down by Spain. Twice that England came runners up. Southgate is all about making the England extremely strong and that's it. England are well coordinated and well cohesive but less than Spain in the end. He did good things for England by beating the teams that are more stronger in the major tournaments which were Columbia, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, Iran, Senegal and Netherlands. I reckon Southgate made a right decision. England needs a new tactical vision. England should play a possession based style.

The statistics make Southgate look decent but he’s beaten below average teams and had easy paths to the stages in the tournament that he did
@ScottBOnline

For those doubting a klopp appointment is possible… I can give you £5.2 million reasons he might take the job… well and that’s just if he’s paid the same as Southgate which I highly doubt he would be, they would probably up the ante if they thought they could get him. At the end of the day, klopps job is managing, and he has a family to feed. Plus there are players there that a manager may think it would be a great opportunity to work with. . Why not.

No country has ever won the world cup with a foreign manager, it's only ever been done once in the Euros and that was Greece in 2004 with a German manager. I don't think it's impossible to do, if we went with a foreign manager it has to be among the well known big name who spent many years in the prem with a winning mentality, don't think Poch is that guy.

Respect to Southgate. He got us out a slump and restored pride and enthusiasm in supporting our national team again. Not the greatest manager in the world but he got us to believe again. He prepared a perfect springboard for the next manager with more experience and skill to get us a trophy. Very honourable to step down now. Hats off to Gareth for that.
