@@divineantiwokegangster And, they solved the whole problem...! The last project of the ekranoplan was able to rise to a height that any wave does not reach. Only one USSR possessed the technology of production and control of the Ekranoplane. at the same time, no one else in the world possessed this knowledge. Therefore, the ekranoplan project ceased to exist with the collapse of the USSR. In the history of mankind, there were facts of the loss of accumulated knowledge when the accumulated experience was not transferred to the next generation! This is exactly what happened to the Ekranoplanes in our modern history. Alas, during the past 32 years after the collapse of the USSR, all people who had experience in designing and using Ekranoplanes died of old age. Therefore, today very small ekranoplanes are being built in the world, and starting from the very beginning, they no longer understand how to build a large ekranoplane capable of overcoming waves of any height... So, today, the soviet ekranoplan project can be called traces of a vanished, more developed civilization

As far as I know, development was interrupted due to the collapse of the USSR, and not because of insurmountable engineering obstacles. I think it was a viable project. What we see in the video are concepts. The development of piloting techniques, the development of standards and restrictions for piloting has just begun. Uncharted field, continuous innovations and identification of problems. Wikipedia subdivides all ekranoplanes into three categories, so that some types of ekranoplans can fly quite high - on the plane and turning is not a problem for them. I think After a year of testing, a technique for accident-free piloting would have been developed. Today, the tasks assigned in the past to ekranoplanes are performed by other technical means and modes of transport, but I would be glad to hear about the continuation of this project. I take my hat off to General Designer Alekseev.
