Monday 24 June - we had decent germination in the carrots we sowed a few months ago, though many were munched on by slugs and snails so I'm sowing further carrot seed, this time Autumn King variety. Also, I look at weeds that have germinated from our perennial weed compost bin that was used to topdress a bed, and weed them out;
Tuesday 21 June - after a morning at Kew Palace and Kew Gardens, I'm at the plot and putting on tomatoes I bought at the gate sale last week. Even though the plants are strong, they've grown rather higgledy piggledy, so I plant them deeply to both straighten them up and so that they can grow further roots and pull up more water and nutrients.
