This video shows how hard it is to harvest soyabeans. There’s a lot of hype about growing soybeans and how much money you can make if you grow this crop. The reality is far from perfect. I grew at least 6 acres of it last year. The seed itself is expensive. I hired a tractor to plough the land and also to sow the seed. After the tractor sowed with the planter, we still had to go in filling up the gaps by hand. In total I had 12, 50kg bags of seed and it was a back breaking job from start to finish. Think carefully, plan carefully and make sure you have enough money to grow soybeans. It’s not as easy as people make out. You need time, money and patience to do this. If you underpay your workers just so you can make a profit then it’s not worth it. You need a huge capital to invest in soyabean farming. And again, the agents that buy from farmers are the big winners in this. The farmer remains poor. The rain was late just as it is this year. There’s no rain in Mumbwa right now and it’s mid December 2022 as I write this. Global warming is a major threat to Zambian agriculture in some parts as Mumbwa. The farmer has to bare all this and still carry on. I bought some soya milk yesterday in Asda UK and I’ve been checking some soya products on the shelves for the next video on soybeans. Thank you for reading.
