SP makes an anti-vibration adapter for this system. I use it on my motorcycle and have had no issues thus far affecting the camera on my iPhone.

Is a vibration dampener for phone mount necessary for cycling? I know the vibration on motorcycle will be a lot but for cycling, I'm not sure, honestly I don't know if it's needed. I'm thinking to mount my phone on my bike when doing bike contents, I'm afraid it may break my phone.

First of all from what I have read the issue is only for phones with optical image stabilisation. Second it depends on the roads, if they are smooth maybe not so much of a problem but my phone was shaking a lot also on “normal roads”. On thing to keep in mind is that vibration issue have occurred with the camera off. If the camera is actually on the optical stabilisation will try to “fight” the vibrations and can brake down even earlier. If you plan on filming from the bike I highly recommend to buy an action camera. GoPros or sono action have a digital image stabilisation, which means that the lens is solidly mounted to the camera and vibration do not damage any component

So this vibration issue affecting delicate component in your phone is not particularly related with this mount I would guess?....it can happen with any phone mount, right?

Yes, any mount is affected. Actually, for motorbike application, some brands have developed rubber mountings to absorb vibrations but honestly I preferred to switch to another system entirely. I ended up using Beeline, always based on the phone gps although you have a second “screen” to mount on your bike/motorbike
