Although not the same as the turbo monsters of 1986, I had a similar first F1 experience at Indianapolis in 2001. We were staying many miles from the Speedway and it was just awe inspiring to hear those V10's from that crazy distance. The downshifts on these cars sounds like a shotgun going off. The whole V10 experience was visceral.

F1 just isn’t the same anymore. I’ve watched F1 since Mario Andretti raced, but now it just seems so bland. Saddens me greatly. Love this video! The excitement building up as you hear them coming!

I was at Imola in 2002, the villeneuve curve for the start, my nana had just past away back in canada. She helped grow my love for sports. I had a tear in my eye when they roared past the first lap.

Wonderful stuff, the sight of 60 GT3 cars thundering up there at the start of the Spa 24 is pretty amazing too

Yes,,, I have lived this goosebumps moment at the start when you ear them coming from fare away with that loud sound in Montreal! Never heard anything louder than that when all 22 cars were passing at the same time!!! Talking about 2001.

I was at the Toronto Indy a few years back before the hybrid era. Was watching free practice and it was more about feeling those engine reverberating through the air than the actual sound. They were ravage!
