I read the awful news today, got home from work, put Gold Day on, and cried. I just found his stuff so wonderfully uplifting. I can't believe he's gone. Rest In Peace Mark

Thanks to pure chance I bought magazine in the mid 90's with a give-away cd which included "Hammering the cramps". I was hooked! I was lucky enough to find Sparklehorse early enough to see Mark many times live in the UK- none better than the time in Leeds' Cock Pit venue when he had a beautiful basist/violinist in the line-up. He was an astonishing artist who understood the emotional power of music. Ghastly and tragic that he felt he had to take his life.

you are a car (you drive me crazy) you are a hospital (you are the one who remedy my sickness) am I the only one who interpret like that?
@hokiebabe
8 жыл бұрын
+Siu Hei Ngai Although I like your interpretation I think it is a more simple and elemental song. It is a lyrically perfect song. You are a car: you help me escape. Cars mean movement and freedom and exploration. You are a hospital: Hospitals are places to heal and be away from the general world. You help me get healthy and get protection and quiet from the world. I'll walk to hell and back to see you smile on Saturday: no explanation needed. You are a star: you are something distant, bright and almost ornamental. Just beauty and hovering away from us down here. You are a sea of air: you are close. you are all around. You are needed for me to live. I'll play great keyboards of horse's teeth on Saturday: Work. Play music. Work. Share my music. Busy. My busy day. Saturday. I'd like to tell you how I feel. But I'll probably keep it till Saturday: you are part of my life and music and all the things that matter to me. To me? It is almost like he is talking about HIS four elements instead of Earth, Water, Fire and Air. An amazingly beautiful song.
