Actually... Apple don't like people knowing... but if you drill a 3mm hole, exactly 8mm to the left of the outermost edge of the charging port and central to the depth of the phone, then the hole you have drilled lines up with the hidden headphone jack on the phones motherboard and you have what you've been wanting! This has been tested to be working on all models up to the iPhone 11 and will reportedly be hidden in the 12 when it comes out too! Just make sure you drill exactly where I said and go slowly for a nice clean cut.

Good video. Although i'd suggest using a better chicken stick like a pvc pipe. Just as an example at 2:45 I see you grab the lead with your bare hands. The wire is not rated for that voltage and if it is touching the table anywhere it can be common to ground and it could jump from the red lead through you when you picked it up. Ive experimented with 50kv a bunch and once accidentally almost set a fire across the room when I had one lead common with ground from arcing. The paths electricity can take at that high voltage is unpredictable.

Look up how to make a PWM circuit with an IC chip called a triple 5 timer. This signal is the circuit you see in the video. They feed it into a MOSFET transistor which then puts a 12v square wave through a transformer. They use a flyback transformer from an old TV probably. There ya go. Its very interesting experiment using the HV flyback to generate sparks .. I've seen also from the ruler, the corona discharge starts around 8 cm (don't know what was the humidity at your lab), Thus the HV value it appears to be higher than 40kV , But any consideration for X-ray generation? which is very likely to happen with such high Electric field ...Anyway well done, I've really liked your video !..

plus a flyback transformer gives at best upto 25kv before its voltage insulation breaks down and it Arc's over and kills itself. plus they get so hot also they split and gunk leaks out that's the apoxy insulation melts. and they bloody stink. hope this helps. High1Voltage1Rules

not 100KV, it was only stretched to ~7cm (and corona to 9), however it is the distance that an arc is created that counts. Also a flyback will only withstand ~25KV before the insulation breaks down
@DIYExperiments
7 жыл бұрын
+1024 : Exact in all points (I had estimated the voltage with the stretched distance not the threshold). For the flyback it's true but for a short moment we can reach a higher voltage (mainly dissipated in international resistors).

HI , I have a question for professionals, (or maybe not). Energy is transformed right nor created or destroyed, then if the power of a 12v 10A battery is 120 Watts and those 120 watts don't kill you even if you put the battery in your tongue, Why these flybacks are so dangerous? They keep outputing 120 w with a higher voltage but the amperage is inversely proportional so there should be not much current flowing... This is troubling to say the least.
@DIYExperiments
7 жыл бұрын
+Dashz : Hi, true for energy and for the 12V in your tongue. But a battery which CAN give 10A will NOT give 10A in your tongue, only around 1mA because 12V is a low votage and the tongue has a high resistance ! So the power dissipated in your tongue is dim, less that 1W. Otherwise, electrcity here is not so hazardous because the max current is around 1mA too -more volt, less current- ! (But it may burn). A power source of 240V 0,5A for example is a very dangerous configuration because there is first a sufficient voltage to "push" a high current in your body, AND the current IS available ! :)

Are you sure there is no x-ray being emitted from the sharp tips of the probes? I think that's why they use balls at the end. Maybe you can use an old-style role of film. Cover a portion with black cardboard, then expose and have it developed. don't forget to stick a small piece of a metal on the cardboard. like a 5mmx5mm aluminum foil glued with a glue stick. If there are x-rays, you'll see a faint square shadow in the negative.

This isn't THAT dangerous! I've done loads of plasma speaker experiments trying all kinds of different types of drive circuits, this kind of arc will just give you a nasty burn if you touch it, it's not fatal. I've touched 120kv (approximately) arcs from my vacuum tube Tesla coil and not got hurt. Yes I'm aware that in a Tesla coil it's high frequency AC but most fly back transformers output DC. However a ZVS fly-back driver is a bit more serious, and microwave transformer could kill you easily.
@SimplyChem32

It's always better to treat these things like they all could kill you, and risk overstating the danger than not. You can't always see electricity, until you can, in which case it's probably too late.

purely based off the breakdown voltage of air, I would estimate this to be 100k volts, as that arcs are up to 9 cm, and electricity can travel roughly 1 cm per 10k volts, which therefore means it is around 90k volts
@treegasmicthearborist5763
7 жыл бұрын
well see your not on to anything as there is alot of things that play in the whole 1cm per 10kv as particles of conductive contamination and moister and other things and frequency! the reason this arc is jumping so good is due to its higher frequency look at a tesla coil! at 100kv at 100+khz the arc will jump very far!
@amateurtech736

@Jimmeh_B
7 жыл бұрын
+Aiden Fransen +YOUR NPN FRIEND : aside from all of that.... at no point was there a arc that was 9cm long. There was about 9cm of corona at times, but only immediately after the arcs were drawn out, establishing a ionised path to traverse. So effectively... still only 3-4cm at best. Long story short, not 100Kv by any stretch. It's also impossible to create a circuit that will vary pulse width and frequency independently, from a 555 IC alone. But hey... who needs accurate information? it's only utube

Yes the spark voltage for gaps like this between pointed wires is about 50kV for 50mm. But it is not linear and 100kV would jump 150mm actually. But for a gap between large smooth spheres, 100kV would jump only about 35mm, but that is not the case here.
