Some dedicated picks for those tricky slider locks! 🔐

i would think a bent handle on those picks would allow more delicate movement, better feedback, and (when possible) visibility. and why not just use some half-diamonds for a slimmer kit?

Glad you did this video as I saw them on Sparrows but had no clue how they were used. Might pick them up, don't think I'll get into slider locks anytime soon but live by the idea of better to get it now while you can. If I do I'll buy the lock with it.

I picked up a box of LOTO locks that turned out to have these wafer sliders. I’ve been picking them with a standard hook, but thought something like this would be very useful. Thanks for sharing.

@@LockNoob I also picked up a set of LOTO locks from Amazon and have had no luck picking them. Thanks very much for the video and helping out. I was getting frustrated.

I like Sparrows picks but never had any luck with their practice locks. I sure hope they can find a better manufacture for practice locks because I like their most of their stuff.

Is that an unmodified, stock, prybar style TOK tension tool? 5:50 Could you use some of the rectangular cross-section Z-bar tools that you use for dimple lock tensioning? Or would the long bars you insert into the keyway mess with the sliders in this case?
@LockNoob

That was an unmodified 2mm prybar. I think from Law Lock Tools

Would an alley key work as the tension tool? I just lost the key to that kind of lock and I guess I'll spend the whole winter on watching this video and trying to pick that lock, lol 😂

Nice picks and nice video as well, Sir. Thanks a lot! I wonder if Sparrows make every picks of their have that "Sparrows" marking on the pick's handle instead of boring plain metal. XD

any advantage to using these over just using a dimple pick with a suitably neutral flag?
@alpama37
Жыл бұрын
In my experience, no, but some might find it more comfortable in a flat handle vs a rounded handle.

I’ve got some locks and tried to use my dimple picks, but they were too big to work, so had to use a standard hook. I like the low profile in the shorter tool here. These are a fair bit cheaper than the dimple picks, but if my flags worked, I wouldn’t consider these.
@LockNoob

Dimple picks are usually too tall unless modified. But if they are the correct height then they will work just as well

Nice one mate..I wonder if they'd help me pick the 4KS
@hgec
Жыл бұрын
Probably not. The 4ks have slider's that needs to be moved mach higher then what this pick will let you. Jast do it with normal picks.

That's what I thought too... It just seems like a pretty weak "new product release" from Sparrows, who I think have a lot of decent stuff to offer, and at very reasonable prices, I just don't think they needed to do this though. - And that lock is clearly a load of cr@p.

It will teach some thieves, yes. It will also show the rest of us not to be decieved by bad locks. And if you have ever seen what an alleged locksmith charges to DRILL OUT and replace an entire cheap door lick set because "No, you can't pick these"... you may want to know the truth. Those thieves CAN pick the locks, they'd just rather pick your wallet.

You have access to keep someone in your basement: chains, duct tape, rope, wire. You shouldn't be able to buy those tools! You have access to cars for: kidnapping, drive by shootings, drug trafficking. You shouldn't be able to buy those cars! You have access to tools to dispose of a body: shovel, hacksaw, lime. You shouldn't be able to buy those tools!
