This is my presentation that was delivered to the Speakers Tribe Victoria 2019 Christmas Function. In this presentation, I am talking about Mental Health and the ups and downs of it.
I was diagnosed with Depression when I was approximately 12 years old and Schizophrenia when I was 17. I had the misfortune to attempt suicide a number of times in my early twenties and I'm just lucky that none of those attempts were successful and that I can be here today to talk about it.
In May of 2016 I jetted off to Peru to trek the Inca Trail for the Leukaemia Foundation - We were raising funds for blood cancer research.
I found the Inca Trail to be a huge challenge both physically and mentally but came out of it a changed man. I am thoroughly convinced now that anybody who has a mental illness should undertake their own physical and mental challenge.
You will learn so much about yourself and exactly what you are capable of. For me, I never believed in myself. I was convinced I was a hanger-on, not capable of doing anything for myself.
Afterwards, I realised that was just a smokescreen I had been hiding behind for a huge chunk of my life.
I invite you to Like, Comment and Share my videos. Let's get the word out there that you can beat depression and it doesn't have to rule your life.
