What a voice--so seemingly damaged, yet so feminine and beautiful, and so stunningly haunting all at once. The great Kim Carnes--truly unforgettable.

Kim does have a unique voice I always thought she sounded like a female Rod Stewart with that kind of gravelly voice she has not making fun of her I loved her music she still looks good for her age keep singing your heart out Kim and keep rocking and don't stop

Still my favorite singer since Bette Davis Eyes became the #1 song of 1981 on American top 40 when the late Casey Kasem was the host on New Year's Weekend January 2 and 3, 1982. Still hot and still going strong just like back in the day. The early 1980s. Still beautiful now and then.

Wonderful interview! Kim Carnes talks about her early years, the smash hit "Bette Davis Eyes", her participation in "We Are The World" project, her compositions to "Flashdance" OST and "Gideon" album to Kenny Rogers, etc. She sings "Bette Davis Eyes", "Gypsy Honeymoon" and "One Beat At The Time" (from her last album, "Chasin' Wild Trains").

We all wanted to hear "Bette Davis Eyes" and get taken back to the 80s if only for 3 minutes and 40 seconds. Still, i missed the synthesizers, that gave it the "80s" feel....I think part of me was left in that era because i was a 10 going into the 80s and it was all about discovering and experiencing so much music, it made it magical.

So true. I just wish things would go back to the early 80s! I definitely think tho that more people than ever are realising that the 80s had the best music and the art and free speech mixed in. All I play is 80s and 70s music and nothing comes close to that period. Late 70s - Late 80s

Introductions in records are very important to the record being a hit ("Bette Davis Eyes" grabs your attention from the very beginning). Introductions to interviews also are important in setting the tone and inviting the audience to relax and enjoy the interview. The initial segment of this interview sucked; it seemed to make the artist uncomfortable, maybe even annoyed although she didn't show it too obviously other than her eyes drifting away from the interviewer quite often, and it was a lousy way to start an interview. The mention of a movie no one even saw could've been included later in the interview (or not at all). I realize you wanted to make a point about freedom of speech but to dig up something she did when she was a kid seems kind of tacky. The world was not as politically correct back then and we all know it.
