You know what i was really happy with my turbo levo 2019 until this morning, until motor starts to crackle and makes a lot of noise ! And if i'm not wrong it's not a recall, they plan to replace motor only when they failed, and it's a shame as they know that some of them have default or weakness ... So for 8k€ i'm not happy with that at all :-(

Love out 4 2020 Levos/Kenevos but don’t need a ticking time bomb ready to blow up when we are in the middle of Tim buck 3. If the new motors prove to be fixed, then please do a recall so I can count on the motor and not have to be afraid of being stranded in the back country.

My Levo cost more than my last motorcycle. How can they get away with knowing they are selling something that expensive with a life expectancy of only 4 years? As soon as the new TQ motor becomes ubiquitous in the states I’m dumping my levo. That is absurd.
@couplandsj
4 жыл бұрын
Michael E how long a warranty do you get on your motorcycle..?
@Pyr0philia
4 жыл бұрын
Simon Coupland funny you should say that. There are consumer protections in place that force manufacturers to uphold safety measures even past the warranty date in the US. To drive that home I just got a notice of a recall to replace my front brakes for free and a new warranty period will be started at the time of replacement. Specialized is taking the cheapest possible way out here and on a bike that cost me nearly $13,000. Fuck that sideways. To be clear I don’t know what the “right” answer here is but knowing the motor is having this kind of failure rate this early tells me I need to dump my levo ASAP. Edit again: sorry I misspoke above. My new brakes on my motorcycle are covered under an additional warranty 5 years past the date they were replaced due to the recall.
@2FeetForward
4 жыл бұрын
Simon Coupland . I hear you but that’s not the point . The point is a motor with a KNOWN fault has been sold to thousands of customers. Who knows when it will break? It’s all very well extending the warranty but that won’t help you when your stuck with a dead bike 10 miles into the mountains . All the units should be recalled and fixed . They cost thousands these bikes and Specialized are a HUGE company making big profits and this is simply unacceptable.

The trouble is I think people are forgetting that when you put the second battery on it should be fully charged, and in that case them wires will on carry a load equivalent to the inverter you use so will take the amps, so the wire needs to be sized to the inverter that's all. You can only charge most bike batteries at 2 amps or so anyway just look at your charger see what it draws.

Two 2.5mmm cables do not add up to a single 5mm cable - this is a circular diameter thing, not a square cross-section thing... for a few cents / pence more, just buy quality cables of the right type with plenty of spare capacity to handle the current...

@@markparker5585 I think - all the calculations and numbers aside - that the clue is in the name... 'speaker cable'... not '12 volt hookup cable' or 'e-bike charger cable'... when you spend thousands of pounds / euros / dollars on a bike, and the battery alone cost nearly a grand, then just using something that you have 'laying around' is not good advice... will EMBN take responsibility for the potential fires, short circuits, damage to other equipment, battery charge mishaps or such? probably best to get a professional electrical engineer to run over the information beforehand. Then, the questionable bits could be edited out.

Yes the warranty means it will be fixed but that will be too late 10 miles into the Welsh hills. If it’s faulty then it should be fixed before it breaks ,simple as.

Ray unfortunately is not able to put himself in the position of someone who is not experienced with electrics/wiring and think about how they might interpret what he is saying. In the original video he never mentioned the size of the "speaker cable". Average Joe might buy 1.5mm or 2mm thick speaker cable and think it's the same stuff he is using. The same Average Joe might also not make or use good quality terminals with heat shrink / solder, etc.. and get themselves in trouble. The previous video also never mentions what size exactly what size chargers are being used. Ray's setup might also work with his 30A alternator. EMBN should point to one of the many, many vanlife style channels that provide an excellent overview on setting up a dual/leisure battery system. Let the vanlife guys show how to setup the battery system, wiring, etc.. and instead focus on how to calculate what size dual battery you will need to charge an ebike.

He’s likeable but I’m still not convinced by Ray’s advice. I would be surprised if anybody with any domestic or automotive electrical experience would risk using speaker wire in the manner that he suggested. I think it’s dangerous to encourage this and to make a complex issue sound so simple. To many people speaker wire might just mean any old crap they have lying around. They might not consider current carry capacity or temperature rating or volt drop or prospective short circuit current. Also there are different types of inverters. I would be genuinely interested to see what the bike manufacturers have to say about this kind of set up to charge an eBike and what the car manufacturers or professional automotive engineers think. This is a very complex subject and people could damage two high value purchases (car and eBike) if they mess this up. I am sure lots of eBikers would like to know how to do this properly so if you are confident with the advice you are promoting let’s see it backed up by some more credible evidence.

Aldough it's nice that they extended their warranty, im still unhappy with their product. I have an Ebike from them and i had many repairs done already in under 1000 km. It's true, the repairs were for free but warranty should be for rare occasion,not for nearly every product... Besides, their attitude towards warranty claims shows that they charged us soooo much that even if they replace the motor they still make profit. I will not buy another E-bike from them.
