Rudy, one of the original metal 'session' bassists, along with Bob Daisley. Cool dude :)

Awesome. Rudi still looks yound.I saw Rudi with Randy in the first show of the Diary of a Madman tour in December 1981 at the Cow Palace San Francisco. My first concert. Vivid memories of it still. Rudi, Randy and Tommy were awesome. Ozzy was good too. He could still actually jump and move around stage.

Back in the day I used to listen to Helloween, & Grim Reaper & Ozzy, oh & Sabotage/(edit, Savatage). I remember cruising the drag jamming to a song called 'Night Of The Vampire' or 'The Hall Of The Mountain King' amoung many others. Had a Sony/Rockford Fosgate system in a restomodded Bug. The stereo system cost many times more than what the car was worth. The entire rear of the inside below the windows was a custom built sealed subwoofer box with a pair of 15" Rockford woofers firing into the back of front seats. Each woofer had it's own huge sealed compartment. Only had a Power 300 on them, which back then was a $750 amp, but it was such an efficient design at reproducing the bass of music that people were telling me all the time they could hear me coming for several minutes, some said hearing me from miles away before they could see me. Had a Punch 150 on a pair of 8" woofers & a pair of 4" satellites with soft dome tweeters. Inside it sounded well balanced, but outside most all you heard was deep loud clean bass, & some of those 80's metal songs had some dang good bass which was part of why I listened to them. (Edit, One piece in particular started with a thunderstorm with a few very low octave strikes, the rumble of thunder that felt just like being right below the clouds of a real thunderstorm in the rain with the winds blowing strong.). We didn't know about or care then about soundstage (edit, back then). All of the speakers were behind the front seats. The satellites were in the very back mounted on top of the subwoofer box firing towards the front of the car. The 8" woofers were actually under the from seats in sealed boxes. I like those high soaring vocals too.

Beautiful bass and Really cool pick ups. Love the LED light to let you know what position the pick up is in. I have a G&L ASAT Bass, with 2 MFD Humbuckers that you can split, phase, etc....but it's always a chore to figure out whats active and not just by looking or feeling the toggle switches. Rudy is one of the reasons I ever picked up a bass. Great musician, and an even greater human.

Those Sims pickups sound awesome. And having three different coil configurations at the flip of a switch, PLUS having them wired into the Tonepump preamp, makes this quite a versatile bass.

Spoke to him briefly at GF. But never had a chance to ask if there will be a 5 string version. With the wide nut. Folks were talking about a 5 after his circle of 5ths presentation.

Perhaps down the road they could release a sorta 5 string version of this. However, Rudy, to my knowledge, only plays 4 string basses. So, it would not likely be a Sarzo sig bass.

The real difference are the SimS pups. They can be bought and put on any bass. I am thinking about putting one on a new Music Man Bongo 5 that I have coming. EBMM doesn't give you the option of getting an HH or HS anymore. So, by replacing one of the pups I can get that back when desired.

Great bass, great company, wonderful design for a unique signature instrument and I'm fascinated by the sims pickups. However, as if Spector basses aren't pricey enough, this signature bass is extremely unaffordable for most bass players. Ouch. Anyhow, glad Rudy has a signature bass that he is 100% proud and comfortable with.

@@philipcrasto I doubt it because RS only plays 4 string basses, especially in live shows . It's possible that he uses a 5 string only for studio session work on a rare occasion.

Right? I was really curious about this bass but not if it's that noisy. It seems like it's only one setting though because when he switches 3/4ths of the way through it stops entirely.

I'm sure it's an awesome bass. How could it not be? It's a Spector. But as a primary pick player, those two switches are in a terrible location.

The pickups themselves are expensive if you bought them outright. Still, you can pay a lot more than 3k and still get less of a bass.

It's an extremely advanced setup and probably better than most other basses you'll find for $3k
