yes brother, first in 78-79 on channel 44, along with speedracer, johnny sokko and his flying robot, and ultra man, then in 80 they made channel 44 a Spanish speaking station and I did not see spectreman till 83-84 resurface on wpwr channel 60. Remember a few years later 60 made the move to channel 50 and remained wpwr until upn bought it out.

I'm happy to see so many Spectreman supporters from Chicago who remember channel 44 before it became Telemundo. Spectreman, Ultraman, Johnny Sokko and his flying robot, and Speed Racer. Was only 4 at the time so I was not a wrestling fan until 4 years later. What you are incorrect about(well most of you) is that it resurfaced on WFLD 32. It did not resurface until 83-84 and the channel was WPWR 60 which then became WPWR 50. If you look at some of the episodes on youtube some of them will even broadcast channel 50 as well as 60, which means it was shown on that network for at least 3-4 years. As far as channel 26 the U maybe you are right, but by that time I was a teenager and was onto other things so I cannot confirm or deny it being on 26. The 3 UHF stations that competed through most of the 80s in Chicago at least were channel 32, 50(used to be 60) and channel 66. 66 was Indiana based channel and I think that was the station that showed Samurai Sunday on Sundays(even though most of the movies were Chinese made.) The theme song for Samurai Sunday was Everyone was Kung-Fu fighting(yet another error between Japanese and Chinese culture.) Anywho thank you for reading and thank you for liking Spectreman

I loved this show far more than Ultraman. My young ears were so untainted that they mistook this theme for an actual rock 'n roll song! :) The producers certainly made sure you were going to watch those end credits! Imagine trying to get away with a font that big and a crawl that slow today.

If you pay attention, this show COMBINES elements of Godzilla, Planet of the Apes with themes of fighting pollution. It appeals to us even now because a savior comes to rescue us from ourselves and shows the dilemma of doing so by posing as a human. Hmmm, sounds familiar. Go Captain Spectre (Spectreman).
