Not sure but it might be the different decoders, IMRRO MAY BE ONE TO TRY FIRST. I had the same problem last month at San Diego with my cabfoward on the tender too and had to do the plug trick myself, as always great hints....thanks for sharing....Jack

Your problem on speed matching is....Put it into a single unit consist then speed match it. It will work just fine that way, when uncosited the speeds will not be matched, but you are only worried about having them speed matched when consisted. Always speed match your units in a consisted state.

It's a little late but I have found 2 things I do. I either tap it out or use some Teflon tape to make the pins tighter. But taping and a drop of glue on the threads works wonders. ( white glue nothing heavier ).

I did a series on speed matching, but I hear you: speed matching is exasperating. In fact, it's my least favorite thing to do on the layout.
