"Speeder hits horse on motorway" turns out to be "Driver driving on a side road at a legal speed is hit by escaped horse." Clickbait at its best. The big question is -- how di the horses come to be running free?
@Atliana

Title is just written poorly to begin with. "The Motorway" is the name of the show, title is TRYING to say "On the tv show "The Motorway" a speeder hits a horse" To be fair that first bloke hadn't hit the 40 zone yet, so technically would have been speeding by 5-10 by his own admittance but that part is definitely clickbait since it was never bought up.

It's because some people have a very lax attitude to ensuring that their horses don't cause death or serious injury to other people. A friend of mine suffered a serious head injury when he hit a horse that had 'jumped over the hedge' at night and was in the middle of the road. He was never allowed to drive again. The hedge in question was never going to prevent a spooked horse from getting out and, although questions were raised at the time, the owner of the horse was found to be not at all liable in any way shape or form for the 'incident' which was a slap in the face for the poor lad as he didn't have fully comp insurance (and couldn't afford a decent solicitor).

for anyone not familiar with horses, unlike dogs or cats etc, most if not all horses with broken legs will usually be put down without question due to their sheer size and weight distribution (there are a few cases or fractures that they can survive from). so for the poor thing to be laying there with its leg severed, the owners would've been aware from dot that it was a pts case, not including all that blood loss and extra trauma that was inflicted, poor thing.

why is it hard to believe? that damage wasn't that bad, car windshields are designed not to shatter and injure the occupants of car. smaller animals are more likely to cause injury to driver or occupants, as they can fly thru the windshield. there's a clip somewhere on youtube where a deer flies thru bus's windshield, he seemed uninjured as driver opened the front door and deer ran out. imagine getting hit right in the face by a flying deer or other animal of same size. as long as animal causes damage to car, then you're safe .. it's worse if animal flies right thru, then you'll take the blow and most likely sustain serious injuries.

Perhaps you could try to serve as a riding police officer? I’m living in Norway , and every time there are riots or demonstrations in the Capitol of Norway - Oslo -the Riding Police are saddeling up their horses and come out to large riots to provide a solid and calm present. I went to Oslo after the terror attacks in Oslo and at Utøya at 22nd of July 2011, and the Riding Police were there, and I found their presense very natural and calmibg. Horses are smart and intelligent, sensitive beings , they are able to sense nervousness , fear and anxiety. What I love is that their presence calm me, they ground me. The police have to deal with all kinds of situations, suicides, people attempting suicide, suspicious deaths, animal related incidents, dangerous dogs, out of control teenagers, mental health calls, child abuse etc. The police deserve respect in my opinion. Nobody is perfect, police officers are only human at the end of the day. Some of the things police officers see in the course of their careers will remain with them forever. There are bad apples on every tree, but for every one bad apple, there are hundreds of good apples. Most police officers are caring, professional people. Wayne Couzins severely damaged the police's reputation as well. However most officers would have been disgusted by the actions of this monster. I believe I was the victim of accidental drink spiking back in 2006, when I was a student. To be honest I was quite far gone that night, but I suddenly felt _very strange_ in a way that wasn't just being drunk. I remember going to the toilet and that was all totally normal, but I then left the toilet and had to pass through another set of double doors to return to the bar. It was when I approached those doors that I suddenly felt _very_ woozy and had the sensation of everything just kind of moving away from me. I basically couldn't walk, fell over more than once, and was helped (really almost dragged) home by two mates. The room was spinning, I was totally confused and I was puking, but felt totally fine the following morning and wasn't even hungover. Never felt that before, or since. I'm a dude. If that really was spiking, then I have a whole new understanding and empathy for women who fall victim to that, and what unfortunately often comes next.

We get cattle on the motorways all the time here in Sweden. They are better att getting out of the pastures than you´d think, and when you hit one, that´s all she´d write. It´s deadly. It´s also just sad. The milk cows tend to be so used to people and here, they have names. It might be Rosa 1463, but it´s still Rosa. It's unlikely the vet would choose to shoot the horse, she would use either a strong sedative followed by lethabarb or else use a captive bold device. The sedative is applied first because lethabarb can trigger an agitated reaction in an animal which would cause even further distress to the horse as well as to the owners..

This driver is very lucky indeed. I love animals, they just do what they do. The owner would seem to be at fault here. In the US, collisions with animals while not "common" happen with some degree of frequency. Vehicle/animal crashes with bear, mountain lion, antelope, deer (most frequent), elk (frequent) and oryx all happen. Also, livestock such as horses and cows that have made their way through cut or otherwise damaged fence lines. All happen with some frequency. Crews do their best to place warning signs where crashes with wildlife are frequent (migration trails, etc) but crashes happen nonetheless. At 75-80, 85 mph, injuries are serious. These often happen on rural or lightly traveled roads which adds to the severity of the injuries resulting from such crashes.

Many years ago I hit a sheep in fog and that shit me up. The sheep jumped off the banking and the first I knew was when it collided with the car. Unfortunately the sheep was killed instantly as the headlight was smashed as it caught the sheep on the neck. I got to work and phoned the police and told them what happened. The farmer wanted to prosecute me for the sheep but the police said that I wasn't driving excessively due to the conditions and that I wasn't at fault. I had to call the police due to 3 horses loose on a road a couple of months back. Thankfully, it was a lane and 7am, but they went down to a busy main road, thankfully didn’t get hit, and turned back to the lane. Unfortunately, that meant they were headed towards the A15! Before the police got there, a local farmer - not the owner - was able to use his truck to herd them into a field. No one on scene knew who owned them as no horses were kept in any field along that road. Apparently the police found the owners by the evening. I still don’t know where they came from!
