Memories. I used to ski there 82-86. $20 lift tickets on weekends. Comin from F.E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne. Skied with Billie Kidd and the late Gen Robin Olds and his wife. Had a buddy from L.A. who'd stop where the snowmobiles run. He had a funny looking board. Looked like a surfboard... 1983. I started pulling flatbed when I got out of the Air Force. 30 years of it. Retired now. Still miss it. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Steamboat and Monterey, CA are the closest places to Heaven I've ever been and like Johnny Cash says' "I've been everywhere" Have a safe one.

Had a 300ZX Turbo and it pays to be polite! Been to Kremling. I70 up and 40 back to Golden. Went to see friends house but ted were limited to half hour because of forest fire in the area. Great to see it in the winter. 100 years ago (well a few less) if I ended up a truck driver instead of a druggist, I would loved to work for your company so I could drive those country roads. Thanks for the memories!

A lot of people don't understand the concept of body, mind, and spirit, along with trial and error, desire and willingness to learn and receiving and accepting advice and knowledge from others....and sharing your own experiences.....you possess it all......your desire to push the edges and judgment to back off, sharpens your senses and fine tunes your skills.

Spent a cold February night in Craig in the 70's driving coast to coast on leave. I don't think I-70 was in yet. Anyway, my Kalifornia Pontiac hated the cold and wouldn't start. Called the garage down the street and he ended up having to tow me to his garage to let it warm up. I threw $10 of gas in the car an he only charged me $15 for the whole thing. Great people in that neck of the woods (well at lest there were in the 1970s).

It amusers me the critism others bestow. If no one is using the left lane what does it matter if you are, especially late at night in snow it is safer for you to stay away from the thick snow on the right hand side. It was a great ride. I thought the extra length of the video was good. We had night time in snow then the early morning which we had a good look around. Awsome scenery on our way down Rabbit Ears. Loved seeing the town when we left deliveries. .Thankyou too for making the video more interesting and seeing a frozen river. So beautiful. Until next time. ✌

Back in the late 90's I drove for a Steamboat company called Alpine Taxi which also did shuttles to and from Denver International Airport. I was deadheading back from DIA one night in a 23 passenger bus and drove over Rabbit Ears in a raging blizzard. There was snow blowing sideways everywhere and drifting across the road. I actually had to stop several times on the road because I knew there was a corner in front of me somewhere but couldn't see it. Then it would clear for a second and I would drive on. It took forever to get across. When I got back to the valley I called in to dispatch to tell them I was "back in the 'Boat". They asked me how I got back to which I replied that I came over the pass. They answered back that the pass was closed. My reply was to say it damn sure should be because it was absolutely awful. I must have been the last vehicle through before they closed the gate. There was no one at the gate, which is at Muddy Pass, when I passed and I didn't see another vehicle the entire way across. By far the worst conditions I've ever driven in and I've driven in a lot of crappy weather.

Beautiful when you woke up. Must be nice to wake up to scenery like this. I do believe this is the college my husband went to back in '70 - '71 or '72. I asked him when he walked by and all I heard was "satellite college of International bla, bla, bla". We visited it in 2009 in his Corvette and happened to catch it to be able to walk through his old dorm room before they blew it up. He was going there to be a dentist but quit to return home to marry his high school sweetheart. He would have made a great dentist as he loves to talk and he has a captive audience. When we got together I believe after his semi accident he took a test to be a bug inspector for Reno or down south, in Yuma I think. Boy, I could see the lines if he got that job. Unfortunately for him, the State of CA did away with this job. Be safe in CA. The virus is spreading out.

Wow!!!!! What a beautiful morning in Rabbit Ears Pass. Thanks Mountain Man for the shotgun ride. I found myself holding my breathe several times on the night ride. You talking about people dressing for the cold in Ca, you would laugh your butt off if you saw how I dress in the South for the low 30's. LMAO As far as changing things on your channel, just want you to know that you have one of the best cameras thru the windshield on KZitem, it's clear enough you can read all road signs, see the beautiful landscape and your voice is great... You should try Live with moderators. I wonder if the live feeds always show a unclear pic...hmmm Thanks Mike....

The temperature is all relative. After almost 6 months of winter, it gets to 50 and it's t-shirt weather. After a month of 80 or better, 50 is looking for something warm to wear.
@trhimes57

I have lived in Pennsylvania all my life. When the 80's drop to 50 I am finally comfortable in my T-shirt. I have flannel shirts of various weights and that is all I wear (usually unbuttoned) over a t-shirt, all winter unless I am out in the snow for an extended period, plowing snow or the like. I do keep a winter coat in my vehicle for emergencies. What I never seem to acclimate to is heat. I despise 75 degrees and above.

Last September we Californians came out to visit my aunts in my second favorite state. Went from Montrose to Steamboat Springs, bypassing Grand Junction, via Yampa and Oak Creek. As we filled up our Subaru next morning, I heard the locals wishing for first snowfall. (It was raining.) Then we headed over Rabbit Ears Pass to Fort Collins via Walden. I was a bit angry that "Wanda Lost" directed me into Wyoming instead of turning off at Walden, and my husband failed to tell me that we were on the wrong road. Wasted forty miles. I liked the highway drive better than mucking around in Steamboat Springs.
