Hi Laura and Dan, you lovely couple! I am very happy to see you! Laura I am glad you got to spend some time with your Mother. That is always very special. Dan, you are a blessed husband and the surprise for Laura and you missing her warmed my heart. The kitchen looks so great and the tiles came out perfect. I watched that segment over and over, pausing, so I could take it all in. The beauty all around you and the darkening sky is magical. It will be so cool when you all can sit at the table, chat, cook, watch the sunrise/sunset, and enjoy God's creation. TY for creating yet another gorgeous and inspiring video. It truly does my soul good to share it with you. God bless you & Love in Christ. ~John

Hey folks, let me give you a tip. You could've made the countertop out of concrete with some reinforcement bars and you'd never have to worry about humidity ever again. Just don't forget to set up a "wind blocker," or else the stove burners will go out with the slightest breeze. 🌬And finally, get some covers for the stove and the sink because the winters around here aren't a joke. Keep going strong and... barnnnnnnnnn! 😛
@theoriginhomestead
Жыл бұрын
yes this is something we thought about a lot and had originally planed to do so but we could not find the products in portugal to do so. As you may or not no to do a concrete mould like a counter top requires certain products for elasticity and other stuff and we could not find :)

I could be wrong Dan but it looks like you've used MDF for the worktop. Using MDF outside is a mistake, it will swell up when damp and the tiles will lift. You should have used 18mm resin-bonded ply and treated both sides with a decent varnish. As I say, I could be wrong so best of luck.
